Why does it seem this era of boxing can never dominate any real tests/threats?

I think of the super fights, and rarely it's in both guys primes.
Excellent post. I'm drunk and going to bed now. Green Karma sent.

Who were all the clear best guys who dominated all the other elite opponents they faced? For the most part, top fighters dominate the guys a tier below and have close fights with other elite guys. If a fighter is dominating so called elite opposition, it tells you that opposition may not have as elite as we thought.

That's not what it tells you at all. It tells you one fighter was just better than the other, and styles make fights.

Reality is there are many reasons why a fighter can lose a fight.

Fair enough, but who were all these top fighters who were “dominating” elite opposition? When a great fighter fights other great fighters in their primes, it’s more often a close type of fight than a dominant performance by either.

I think this is just another indirect Larry blowing mayweather thread.

Ah yes, "...the back in the day scenario', "when men were men".
            Who were these legends?
            Did they have names?
