The masses dont know him at all. I havent even seen Margarito on Telemundo. Floyd got the hip hop culture behind him, and we pretty deep around the world. Floyd might not be on Delahoya level, but he is definitely a tier below that when it come to popularity. 6 heads is the fighter u choose to show who was proven, 6 heads is ok, not elite, not very good, a notch below mediocre in my opinion. Margarito should have been demanding to fight higher ranked guys after Cintron, but what he do, take a step back and fight Gomez. Im glad to see u agreed with #10, this might just be the most important one.
What is it with you and hip-hop. You gave me a comment like this earlier in reference to Zab. I mean Zab appears in rap videos and people mention him in songs fairly often. I am just saying your "hip hop enthusiast" who doesn't follow boxing might still know who these guys are because they aren't just "sports figures"
Antonio Margarito needs Ice Cube's approval to be "somebody" ?
you are a joke my friend !
That isn't what I am saying. Margarito has his own crowd of people that watch him... they just aren't hip-hop fans. Fans of Mexican fighters that aren't necessarily boxing fans will watch Tony though and Floyd and Zab definitely don't have that kind of appeal.

Zab is friends with rappers so he should get big fights.

you lost some cred. with me
buddy
No that is not what I am saying either. I was saying PEOPLE feel that Zab-Floyd had better PPV numbers because general fans of hip-hop recognize the names more than other boxers. I would never say that recognition means you are worthy of big fights.

And I was actually contradicting the point that Margarito doesn't have at least equivalent appeal with non-hard core boxing fans because fans of Mexican champions will support him even if they aren't that familiar with him or they hate Floyd etc.

When did Daniel Santos become such a great fighter? He's solid, but not great. He went on to get destroyed in his very next fight after beating Margarito...
