RE. Parker v Takam. Unlike Yarde, Parker has an extensive amateur career, and unlike Kovalev, Takam cannot be considered elite. Also, at that point Parker had sparred with many of the top guys, such as Joshua and Klitschko. And Parker had home-town advantage. So, Parker's jump up in class looks a calculated risk. Indeed, I believe Parker was the favourite with the bookmakers going into the fight. In comparison, Yarde is facing a much tougher task.
I don't understand the level of confidence that Tunde and Yarde have got going on
Traditionally, when a boxer is being brought along, every fight presents a new challenge, and there is a cautious hopefulness that they will prove themselves worthy of stepping up in class the next time around. I don't see that with Yarde's development. Instead, what I see a continuously mediocre level of competition, followed by a huge step up in class with this Kovalev fight. It's like a Hail Mary style of management that I've not really seen before
