Yarde’s an athlete, no doubt about that. Strong and explosive.
My worry is that he’ll drop his hands too often and will get handily out-jabbed. The lack of experience fighting quality opponents and having to think his way through fights, or adjust mid-fight will be a problem I think. Would’ve liked to see him in with the likes of Hosea Burton or someone similar before Kovalev.Comment

I think he’s actually pretty flat footed. He’s explosive with his hands but he plods around the ring.Yarde’s an athlete, no doubt about that. Strong and explosive.

He says that he wasn’t interested in the amateur style so he turned pro after 12 bouts, but I think he never perfected the fundamentals.
Like you say he also doesn’t use much of a jab. Against the cherry picks that doesn’t matter as much, I expect Kovalev to outbox him and stop him though.
I think Kovalev’s power will shock him. He’s not been toughened up enough by his list of bum opponents.Comment

Yarde cant go for the old man games. Kovalev would have to get Yarde to follow him, or turn Yarde, for his skill to show. Footwork is the key. Cutting the ring off is what experience would do, but I don't think Yarde is up to that. Cutting Kovalevs legs off, he's up for that.Comment
