Anthony Yarde not sparring in preparation for Kovalev

Are he and his trainer genius innovators who will revolutionize the game? Or just delusional?

Delusional. Kovalev is a flawed fighter, but Yarde is nowhere near his level.

If he keeps winning, people will call him genius.

If he does horribly in this fight, people will say it was outright ******

The question is it would it change the outcome not whether it's a revelation IMO. For example, if Kovalev didn't spar in camp before fighting Hopkins I don't think it would have made a difference. Kovalev was still the far better fighter at those respective points of their careers. Kovalev would have still beat him up. If Yarde beats up Kovalev, he's probably the better fighter at this point in their careers. I don't know how much sparring will have to do with it. Although his brain will probably thank him for sparing him the blows in camp and that might prolong his career. I don't know. Can he fight? That's still the question.

Tunde knows nothing Yarde has a glass chin and has never in his life felt power anywhere near what Kovalev has, it will be a rude awakening for him when that first straight right detonates on his jaw like a nuclear warhead

Tunde is not a fan of sparring just in general, and especially not hard sparring, his philosophy seems to be, 'Save it for fight night'. I don't get it man. Seems like a recipe for disaster.

Here is Ward's opinion, if you haven't seen it already. Short video (<2mins), so I haven't time-stamped it, but it's at 01:25. Interviewer says about Yarde not sparring in preparation. Ward replies, "Good luck with that!"

Damn, Ward lit Yarde up. I like how Ward always shows Kovalev respect in the media.

Yarde used to love sparring in the Pea**** Gym and the Maywe@ther Gym so I don't know how true it is that he's not sparring for this fight. That kid could spar all day.

This has been becoming more of a thing in MMA cuz its been showing results cuz mfers get too beat up in sparring & injured & sh^t.

I tend to think sparring will be a antiquated thing at some point in combat sports. I think VR technology is gonna kill dangerous sports eventually, but the first thing it'll kill is sparring for a sport like boxing & that could be within our life times.

I don't think the outcome of this fight will mean its a good thing or bad thing doe. I think its just a thing that'll overall be of benefit to fighters long term. Its not deciding outcomes of one specific fight doe.

A lot of the argument on why you shouldn't spar is because you have sparred a lot already & know how to fight & deal with fight like situations. Once you get it you got it is kinda the thought I believe. The rest of it is just timing & technique & you don't need someone hitting you in the head to acquire that.

If you haven't been in a lot of fights you probably should be sparring to gain a comfort level with fighting that it takes a long time to get to.
