  • Comments Thread For: Arum Hails Navarrete "Best Fighter In Mexico", Return on 9/14

Bob Arum knew before the night began that in Emanuel Navarrete, he had a hot commodity in the 122-pound sweepstakes. The manner in which Saturday's ESPN-televised main event ended made the Hall of Fame promoter realize he also had a solution to a major Las Vegas card badly in need of support.

Arum will say anything to promote a fighter.

Navarrete is very good. But not better than Canelo or Gallo Estrada yet.

Absurd statement by arum. Clearly a focused Chavez Jr is the best fighter out of Mexico, as evidenced by his 1 round ko win last week vs an elite opponent. The only way to beat Chavez Jr is if his training camp consists of weed smoking while eating fruit loops and shadow boxing in his living room, or if he's weight drained by inferior opponents with a ridiculous 163.3 catch weight request.

            Navarette can unify the division.

Bob Arum makes the craziest claims.

Gets get a pass though because he is old.

Well said. Put Chavez Jr. and Navarrete in a fair fight at light heavyweight and watch JCC Jr prove he's Mexico's all-time greatest.

Of course, Navarrete will demand a 123.1 pound catchweight just to get out of having to fight him.

Is that not a short turnaround for a fighter? Is this usual?
