If the same Kovalev from his last fight shows up, you'd think that's true, but that's the only time that Kovalev has showed up in his last like 7 fights or something. So 1/7 is not good odds. Also, I said you'd think that. Until Alvarez, who is also about 35 now and may have gotten old (or old for making weight) overnight, fights one of the other champs, we can't even know that for sure. He did beat Pascal very impressively years ago, so you'd think it proves what you said, but again, that was years ago.

What if Kovalev gasses out, basically all by himself, after 4 rounds vs Canelo, just like he did the first fight vs Alvarez? Then when Canelo lands 1 body shot per round or something, Kovalev gasses out and gets stopped or starts losing every round, are we going to give Canelo credit for "what great body shots, he's completely chopped Kovalev down, what a performance by Canelo," or are we going to tell the truth "Kovalev was clearly better than him, was winning all the early rounds, but because of his age, he gassed very badly and now Canelo is taking advantage of basically a sitting duck. This is the benefit of fighting older fighters and it shows why Canelo picked Kovalev and not the prime champions at this weight."

Of course the propagandists in the sport are going to tell the lie version of what happened, not the truth, as will many of Canelo's fans, unfortunately. And building lies on top of lies is awful for the sport of boxing. That's my concern. Can you at least understand that as a boxing fan?

Well If canelo can avoid the early onslaught and accumulate enough punishment throughtout the course of the fight then he does deserve credit for that imo. Only two fighters have been able to do that and one was a p4p future hall of famer and the other is a top 5 fighter within the division. If a middleweight moves up and is able to do that to him as well that would be pretty impressive unless there are dubious circumstances (weight drained, bad ref, etc.) Or like you say, canelo doesn't do much yet kov still looks like ****. At that point we can say he's shot. But his last performance doesn't suggest that to be the case and that is largely what I'm going by.

Overall, I don't think it'd be some amazing feat if canelo gets the W. And of course some fan boys would act like it is (happens with any fighter). But if he gets by kov without any great handicap or robbery then for me it would be a very good win over a very good fighter.

Why are you dissing on PBC and spreading myths? In this current era, Adrien Broner PIONEERED this model of jumping weights to fight all the B-level prime guys and past prime old former A-level guys who have fallen down to B-level, and he's a PBC fighter. And he got it from Floyd, another PBC fighter without the name. Don't take away credit from PBC, Canelo is copying them.

Yeah I don't get it. I know Canelo wants to be a 4-5 division Champ or whatever but he's just constantly jumping through the weight classes seemingly trying to get easy picking fights while leaving behind unfinished business. It's like he has no home.

On another note, I doubt Kovalev beats Yarde but if he did an proves he still has gas in the tank then I don't think Canelo has much of a chance against him at 175. The majority of people don't even think he truly beat GGG.
