If you haven’t done proper research, read a lot of books and gone back to study the eras then you shouldn’t be too vocal or critical of others listen imo. You also shouldn’t be overly sensitive about lists if you can’t name all the fighters on them or know about their careers or eras and just assume someone is trying to be smart. Some people actually do care and have learned just because you are too lazy and uninterested to do it doesn’t mean others are. Just because you only care about 2-3 fighters and get upset about your guys ranking doesn’t mean others are like that.
They are all fun and games really and I don’t take into mythical matches because they are pointless and too speculative. Measure relative to their eras. Competition is important and not just a quick Boxrec scan or a look at a list of hall of fame members. Being the undisputed champion or one true champion is huge to me and where a lot of modern guys fall short and of course the competition and lack of different styles faced.
Lists aren’t important and I find it funny that those that know least are the most adamant and cry when they don’t like your favorite fighters placement. I am not a “historian” though I try and learn boxing history. I probably undervalue a few of the guys on my lists because my research hasn’t been strong enough on them but I do try and read 20-30 new books every year in the hopes of learning as much as possible in what spare time I can get.
