He said he laid off because he did not want to ruin friendship with Randall who was taking him places and buying him things. A lot of times a young pro or top AM will do well with a top pro, and its because to the pro star its just another session with just another kid. Where to the young kid he is trying to make a name and get respect. Whatever happened one thing is FOR SURE and that's a 16yr old Mayweather was not as good as Pea in his prime.
Everyone was talking about how he handled Pernell. You talk like you refuse to believe it.

      You might have better skills
in areas but you've got to put it on the line and take risks and Floyd didn't do it enough. Fighting dlh and cotto at 154 but not nel o is just about as daring to be great as Floyd got.
That's just not going to do it for people. Not going to cut the mustard. In 50 years time when people read about Pac s achievement, and guys like srr and Ali people will find it hard to believe they did what they did and think they're not human. Only when they realise they lost some fights that they are human
In other words you CHOOSE who YOU want to be the best to YOU

Who is everyone??????????? Yea everyone was talking about a sparring match that took place 25+ years ago with a 16yr old kid(May) that hardly anyone knew????? Mayweather in an interview talks about sparring Pea, he said he knew he belonged that's it. In same interview he does talk about getting the best of F Randall(getting ready for Chavez rematch) and even holding back because he did not want to pizz him off as FR was taking him places and buying him things. Atot of times a young pro or advanced amateur will do well with a top pro because to the pro its just another sparring match, but the kid is trying make his mark. Duva talked about it once also and while he may be biased he said Pea was impressed and said May would be the next big thing, but that Pea handled him. You know I think VERY highly of May and think those two are the best to turn pro in last 40yrs, but show me some proof and then I will believe it. Either way like I said before there IS NO WAY a 16yr old May was better then a PRIME Pete.

Agreed, also because the amateur is used to giving it all in three X two minute rounds whereas the pro has to get used to a pace they can keep up for 12 rounds.

I remember Carl Froch saying if he had to fight some of the top amateur's in his gym he would lose even on his best day without training to adapt to the shorter format.

Good point! The amateur fights are 3 min rds now that they moved it back down to 3rds though.

He gave it all in training in gym. But didn't leave it all in the ring. Far too cautious
too wrapped up with keeping that 0.
