Gatti might get in mainly through his sheer tenacity to get into so many memorable exchanges and memorable rounds. His name alone sounds like a Hollywood script. His face. His grit. His ability to keep taking punches to give one. He's the closest thing to an era Jake LaMotta used to define what a boxer was. And Jake is just as memorable as Sugar Ray Robinson even though Ray was far and away the more accomplished fighter.

Gatti is the fictional Rocky Balboa in real life. They don't call him "The Human Highlight Reel" for nothing. Because of his style, he will always be beaten by "good" boxers. No matter how much "sweet science" Buddy can try to teach Gatti, Gatti will not be remembered as a boxer but as a brawler.

IMO, he will make the HOF. It's not always about the belts.

EDIT - I am a Gatti Fan. But I know he's a Level C fighter. I am a fan of his fights, not his lack of talents.

The question really is SHOULD he get into something called the Boxing Hall of Fame? Surely none of you really think he is an elite fighter that should be in the Hall of Fame. Don't tell me he should get in because the hall has bogus credentials. If you're gonna do that, go ahead and dismiss the Hall of Fame as an elite club.

I don't really know if Gatti should be inducted, but I think it would be acceptable to allow entry based on criteria other than wins and losses. Gatti has introduced a lot of new people to boxing. I'm not sure if that's enough, but he is one of the bigger names in the sport now.

Diego you know I think you're cool as hell, but I got to disagree with you on this one.

                It isn't called the:

                Boxing Hall of Skill
                or
                Boxing Hall of Accomplishments

It's called the Boxing Hall of FAME

To me that means fighters and/or trainers and/or promoters who have left their mark on boxing, and to me Gatti definitely has.

It is pretty common in all sports to allow hall of fame entry based on contributions to the sport other than statistics.

Its funny, non-Gatti fans are more concerned that he doesnt make it in the HOF. where Gatti fans are just glad that they got to watch their boy fight regardless of weather he won or loss. his fights are alwasy entertaining.

and he will probably be inducted regardless of how some people feel. i could care less either way. i will always enjoy watching his old fights.
