Gatti fans need to wake up

I am absolutely shocked at the number of Gatti fans telling me he deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. Most of them admit that Gatti accomplished very little in terms of titles and important wins in the sport, but they say he deserves to get in because he's exciting. Let's get this straight: you're admitting Gatti isn't a great fighter but telling me he deserves to be recognized among great fighters because he was exciting and competitive against a lot of good-great fighters? GIVE ME A BREAK!!!! Listen, you fell in love with Gatti because he is exciting, not because he was a Hall of Fame fighter. So many of you just feel bad for him and are hoping like mad that he gets in the Hall of Fame, but I'll put it this way: I don't know the quality of most fighters in the BOXING Hall of Fame, but in most other sports, you have to be pretty damn good to get into such a prestigious hall. You don't get in because you were popular or excitingly competitive in every loss. If the Boxing Hall of Fame has such low standards that they would put Gatti in, then I don't respect it at all.

I love Gatti as a fighter. I watch Gatti's fights as much as anybody else's. I'm a Corrales fan of course, and Gatti and Corrales are without a doubt the two most exciting fighters I've ever seen. But when it comes to success in boxing, it isn't even comparable. Has Gatti beaten anyone remotely close to a Jose Luis Castillo, Acelino Freitas, or Joel Casamayor? No.

On a side note, it's funny because Vargas' career is most likely over now as well, but no Vargas fans are dumb enough to be claiming he deserves to be in the Hall of Fame.

Gatti fans, you love your boy and that is fine. I love him too. But please shut up about this Hall of Fame trash because you're only making yourselves look foolish. If you're going to put Gatti in the Hall of Fame, then go find the guy who got off the canvas more times than anybody else in his career and put him in too. Don't forget to find the guy who was knocked out more times than any other fighter because surely he deserves to be recognized for that accomplishment. Oh yeah and we shouldn't forget to find the guy who committed the most fouls in a boxing match or the guy who has the most draws on his record because these men should be recognized for those distinctions.

I think I've made my point.

Gatti will probably be let in, even though he has never had a legit win over a top fighter.
They let nearly anybody into the boxing HOF.

And what quote is that Hopkins fight from?
Bernard is making himself look ****** there.

Gatti is going to get in trust me on that. Really, Its not the fans choice of who goes to the HOF, unfortunatly. It is the HOF itself. In order to get in you must

      1. He must be foremost in his contribution to the skill and the science of boxing.

      2. combine with his high place in the ranking of fighters a similar position as a sportsman.

      3. must be one who made historic events in the sport.

      Got it off the website.

If you're going by that as the criteria and requirements, Gatti ain't getting in.

No he's got 1 of 3, if that. His most memorable fights were with Ward. Those were non-title fights.

Gatti doesnt meet the first two. We all know he couldnt box a lick and was a brawler with rudimentary boxing skills. He also wasn't competitive with any of the top guys of his era.

he thought all the best of hes era in the divisions he competed in
he was in 3 fights what many consider the 30 best rounds of action ever
so theres 2 outta the 3
a younger gatti had great boxing skills and id say hes heart and chin could contribute to that also
so hes 100% in the hof

ALL coz of his "micky ward" trilogy,.... and coz the american public feel sorry for the beating he took for FLOYD, so they gonna repay him.

personally he does not deserve it.

he was the great white hope, in the lower weight classes, but he just does not deserve it. not being racist here, just stating that floyd beat him and hes black, i just think there tryin to hype gatti up. bcoz he "should have" been the next best thing, but sadly didnt.
