  • Which retired boxers lack an iconic victory?

Think about guys like Muhammad Ali, he has a plethora of iconic fights; Sonny Liston, Joe Frazier, George Foreman.

Sugar Ray Leonard; Wilfredo Benitez, Roberto Duran, Tommy Hearns, Marvin Hagler.

Floyd Mayweather; Diego Corrales, Oscar De La Hoya, Canelo Alvarez, Manny Pacquiao.

As I look throughout boxing history, I notice a lot of boxers like Julio Cesar Chavez for example, lack an iconic victory. Despite all of Chavez’s accomplishents, he is widely remembered as a guy who spent 96 fights fighting bums, being gifted decisions against Rocky Lockridge and Pernell Whitaker, getting dropped and dominated by Frankie Randall then quitting in the rematch, TKO’d by Oscar De La Hoya then quitting in a rematch AGAIN and finally; dominated by Meldrick Taylor and getting saved by referee Richard Steele.

Chavez/Taylor is as iconic a fight can get, two undefeated champions, winning the fight with 2 seconds left, fight of the year, fight of the decade, controversy, legendary nights, etc
