ICEMAN DIARY ENTRY- July 24, 2006: So today there is an interview on the internet with Kevin Cunningham who is Corey Spinks' trainer. He has become proof positive that fighters aren't the only ones who can have big mouths. I have always been accustomed to seeing the trainers of the sport as generally being the ones who were the most level headed men in the game. This guy, though, usually comes off as an ignorant, foolish, very immature clown and today he was in rare form in his role in relation to Corey as what I compare to that first cousin (or brother, friend, classmate) of yours that you kind of like but wish others wouldn't know he was your cousin (or brother, friend, classmate) because he is such a moron. Kevin does this interview and he spends each answer lacing his replies with unprintable words, claims of racism and total disrespect of world class boxers. I always thought it was borderline amusing when guys that don't fight for a living use words such as "bum" to describe champions that do but Cunningham's ridiculous and blatant words of disrespect go beyond humorous. They are foolish, ignorant and low class. He comes across as a thuggish type of guy with very little class and respect, which wouldn't be even as bad if it were not for the fact that he was a St. Louis policeman at one time in his life. He comes across as a guy that's never been in the spotlight before and now that he is, because of Corey, he is overwhelmed by it all and not handling it too well. Trying to play the role of big shot. Somewhere down the line, as often happens, someone may even tell me that Kevin is actually not a bad guy, not as bad as he comes across in the interviews he does, but the way he disrespects accomplished boxers and champions (more than he could have ever done. Kevin apparently was so good of a boxer that he became a police officer) like Jose Rivera, Antonio Margarito, Floyd Mayweather, Arturo Gatti, and Carlos Baldomir, for example, I will never respect a guy like Kevin Cunningham. NEVER. Want an example of the low class, ignorant mentality that comes from the feeble brain of Kevin Cunningham? When asked "Is there anything you'd like to say in closing?" Kevin replies with this: "If we can't unify with DeLahoya or fight Mayweather or Mosley then we ain't got no choice but to unify with this bum a** moth** f****** named Rivera that Don (King) got."
As for his lack of mental power you can only go by this quote: "Spinks and Mayweather are probably the two biggest names outside of Delahoya in boxing right now so some of these so called writers don't know what the f*** they talking about."
Maybe, maybe not, but I am willing to bet they can speak english better than you, you ignorant fool. Spinks and Mayweather are "the two biggest names in boxing right now??" Even Corey doesn't believe that craziness and to call Jose Rivera a "bum m****** f*****" is not to sell tickets or draw interest in a proposed fight (who would want to see the biggest name in boxing against such a low level boxer, right?), it is merely the words of an ignorant man who the spotlight has illuminated so much that now his ******ity and ignorance is no longer only seen just by close friends and relatives.
