Hate to say it, but it is a simple vote. Period. Some voters may have criteria they use, but it is not universal. Kinda of like judging a bout. Gatti and Mancini, due to their charisma, represented what was beloved about the sport. I think they are justly in the HOF. They are two fighters who would be discussed when talking about the history of boxing. Julian Jackson is rightfully in. When you talk about potentially the hardest puncher p4p ever, throw in he's a 2-division titlist with a win over the highly respected Terry Norris, he deserves a spot. There are many who are 'good' enough to be in, but with only 3 or 5 allowed in per year, it is too easy to be left behind if you do not make it on the first ballot. Benn, Eubank for example.
The achievements of those who excelled...the key word is excelled...going by " charisma " or "attitude" ect makes getting in meaningless.

He meant Prince, the singer. The purple rain guy. Fast hands, no power.

Not saying they are bad. Some had awesome primes, a great win or two, big characters etc; but there should be a standard and a cut off. These guys aren’t “great”.
I agree with some of your list but quite a few on that list belong in, I wont go name by name, but it shows how subjective it is. I think Naz was borderline, but he belongs in for me. He had a long reign, beat quite a few good to solid fighters, won every belt at featherweight. His problem in his era was, that you went from c and b level fighters to Barrera, Morales Marquez....massive jump, there were no Frampton's, Santa Cruz, or that level of fighters.. which Hamed would have Ko'd.

He peaked early and didn't fulfill his potential, but he was #1 for 5 years and p4p for much of that...what pushes him over the top for me is the fact that he is one of the best punchers in boxing history, he had several FOTY candidates, and lastly this being the most important point point, he single handedly put the lower weights on the map like they hadn't been before. He opened them up to the casual fanbase and changed the game financially for the fighters at the time and ever since.

I know some of you want it to be just about accomplishments, but I think you're missing the essence of it. Hamed made a significant mark on the sport, he belongs...no question

Max Schmeling not in the HoF ? ROFL what ? He knocked out a PRIME Joe Lewis when everyone thought he was shot... That alone makes him HoF worthy.

I like your quote about respecting all fighters, if I live to be a thousand I will never understand that whole Ward v Kov, Canelo v GGG, Wilder v AJ BS. Their is something I respect about ALL world class fighters. The only hate I have is for PED cheats and im not overly fond of broke fat heavys, because if you cant do your runs and situps before you make any money its only gonna get worse once you do.
