The rankings are the rankings and the mando rules are the mando rules. Alvarez inherited a mando from Jacobs. Dervy and GGG were the top 2 IBF contenders.

purse bid is not an option for fighters like canelo, for obvious reasons...
but by the ibf rules they can revert to a purse bid once the purse bid has been canceled...

2 DAZN does not seem to have the contractual power to dictate who "their" fighters actually fight?

Good point - also wonder whether negotiations between DAZN fighters happen in the same way as they would happen with other networks. It seems to me that DAZN take a more proactive approach than, say, HBO used to. So far Canelo fights didn't seem to be that easy to make, but Canelo might be an exception... let's see.

So, ggg was unified champ and ducked SD to fight vanes causing the ibf to strip ggg. Then Jacobs and SD fight for the ibf and Jacobs beats SD. Next, canelo beats ggg takes his belts then beats Jacobs to take the ibf strap that ggg lost by ducking SD... now we have the ibf stripping canelo to allow SD to fight for the title vs the guy that ducked him and got beat by canelo who also beat the guy who beat SD.... wtf? if a fight goes to a purse bid the winner on the bid has the right to make the fight on the network he choses , thats why is not an option for canelo.... there was already a final date for the purse bid and gbp asked to cancel it commiting to make a deal with serg and his team, by doing this gbp had no choice but to pay serg or get canelo stripped... serg took advantage of that...
