They should have offered him more than GGG was.

Because if the offer is the same, there is no reason for Derevenchenko to take Canelo’s offer, at all.

He’ll get the same for fighting GGG and if he wins, he’ll make another $5.5 mil + for fighting Canelo.

    Golden Boy is dumb.

And please let’s not pretend DAZN is following Canelo’s orders to get Golovkin a title or that this has anything to do with Charlo and Andrade. Canelo vacated because his promoters are idiots and didn’t just offer SD a million bucks more.
so is ggg paying serg 5 mil out of his own purse like canelo offered ??
you know the answer but decide to ignore...
serg taking the same amount from ggg and not from canelo has a clear answer "he sees ggg as the more winnable fight"...
and dazn isnt following orders from canelo, but they are doing everything they can to get canelo-ggg 3, and if that implies ggg getting a title so be it....

      Yup.

Everyone has turned down Canelo over money.

An opponent that was mocked for doing so is going to make the same or more for fighting the next guy in line.

It’s clear that Golden Boy is too cheap to get Canelo an opponent.

I don't agree it's an easier fight but as someone else pointed out if he wins he will most likely get a Canelo fight for big dollars.

More than that. Golovkin through his lawyer demanded that DAZN get him an opponent that could get him a title because they are in breach of contract. They promised him a rematch with Canelo. They agreed and did not deliver. I have a feeling Drevyanchenko knew something was up during negotiations.

In what ways are people saying Golovkin is an easier fight? Canelo obviously has great defense and is hard to hit. He has great counters and good pop, but he rarely fights for 3 minutes a round. Assuming Golovkin hasn't lost too much, he's in no way an easy fight. If by easier, you mean win against him on the cards, sure, because we know you're not beating Canelo on points. And either way, none of this would be happening if Canelo hadn't picked Kovalev out of the huge line-up of fighters to choose from, in a fight that nobody was asking for.

Why does what you wrote in bold matter?

Golden Boy should have spent more knowing SD had leverage in negotiations.

Whoever is behind GGG was willing to pay and GPB wasn’t.

wouldnt he get a second canelo fight by beating canelo ??
its 2 big paydays, but he has less chances of 2 big paydays if he fights canelo first.. you dont get a rematch or a ggg fight if you lose to canelo to begin with...

dazn did not aprove money for canelo-serg, you are calling golden boy cheap but they are using money from canelos own purse, it does matter dont you think ??
ggg is in a different situation cuz he is using dazn money for this fight...

I don’t care where the money came from. They vacated the IBF over an extra $1.5 million. They’re cheap.

They couldn’t get Sergey Kovalev to agree either and they had DAZN’s blessing for that fight.
