Exactly this. There is nothing in this fight for Canelo. No belts. It's not going to do some record new ratings/views. Its not bringing him more money or more fame. The people that think he lost 1 or both fights will continue to have Canelo starting the fight 7 rounds down on their cards while they scream about conspiracy theories of paid off judges and Jacobs taking a bribe. These people have their excuses already lined up for when Canelo wins again.

he refused to fight Andrade/Charlo for a title... he does not have a significant fanbase... he has done nothing to whet the fans appetite for a trilogy... Canelo will make the same money regardless who he fights, but Golovkin needs Canelo for another payday... and Golovkin is a poor sportsman who will only make excuses when Canelo beats him again

The truth is team Canelo screwed up. Kov didn't price himself out he needed to buy out his opponent and compensate foreign broadcasters if he took the Canelo fight. There wasn't enough money offered to accomplish all that. Derev more than likely will get a bit more money from Golovkin. If he lost to Canelo there is no way he would ever get a fight with Golovkin. If he beats Golovkin he will get a rematch or end up fighting Canelo. It's all about the money.
