It really doesn't make a whole lot of sense because both of them are on a "salary" now.

Meaning Canelo faces GGG he's not going to get more than the $30M and GGG won't get more than $16.67M. Canelo might negotiate a higher split of the gate, but that's about it.

So him not wanting to fight Golovkin cause he doesn't want to give him another payday is total nonsense.

It all comes down to ego. Canelo's ego got in the way. Instead of fighting GGG or Kovalev, he's now probably stuck fighting Andrade who is a worse matchup for him than either of those two.

Spite is a hell of a motivator when all your financial concerns have been taken care of.

Kovalev, Callum Smith, Demetrius Andrade, Jermall Charlo, Billy Joe Saunders now, etc, are all good and interesting/challenging fights for Canelo, but if he can live the rest of his days with Golovkin starving without Canelo's name to make him that payday he needs, I think he'd be happy.

Same reason why Juan Manuel Marquez never gave Top Rank a 5th Pacquiao fight, same reason why Marvelous Hagler said to hell with boxing after the Ray Leonard fight, same reason why Floyd keeps ****ting on Pacquiao and anyone else who's trying to get him back in the ring for a real fight.
