    Top 5 heavyweights opponents comparison

Just to put in context what fury is doing; these are all based on Boxrec current opponent world rankings for last five fights.

Whyte & Wilder definitely improving their opponent level in recent fights. Joshua obviously has best record as he has consistently took on high level opponents. Fury though? Seriously? What we basically are saying is the highest rank he has actually won the fight is ranked 39?

In that context how can we really seriously consider him the top heavyweight? For me, he sits at least down in fourth behind AJ , Wilder and Ruiz at this moment and arguably lower.

    Ruiz
    Joshua - 3
    Dimintrenko - 54
    Johnson - 104
    Vargas - not ranked
    Parker - 10

    Wilder
    Brezeale - 13
    Fury - 4
    Ortiz - 8
    Stiverne - 40
    Washington - 16

    Joshua
    Ruiz - 1
    Povetkin- 5
    Parker - 10
    Takam - 26
    Klitschko - retired

    Fury
    Wallin (proposed) - 48
    Schwartz - 58
    Wilder - 2
    Pianeta - 68
    Seferi - 39

    Whyte
    Rivas - 14
    Parker - 10
    Chisora - 12
    Browne - 38
    Helenius - 35

If you want to make such a comparison, take their rank at the time of the fight, not NOW. Ruiz was not a top 10 fighter at the time of the fight. Breazeale was much higher than the current 13, Ortiz was much higher, Stiverne was world champ/mandatory, Parker was higher, etc.

Chisora is fighting Parker next, and he could be included in this list.

If you count FULL resumes, I believe Chisora and Povetkin would rank highly.

But for the last 5 fights, Wilder and AJ are head and shoulders above the others.

Wilder fanboy that you are, please no need to go defensive. This was more about fury than wilder. We all know wilders resume is poor also but as I mentioned in my original post his recent fights have been a somewhat improvement to be fair

This is not about Wilder or Fury or Joshua or Whyte or anyone else. This is about the fairness and validity of the comparison. When you start using numbers for comparison purposes, you're using science and this is scientifically incorrect.

Sorry, the post wasn't against you or any boxer. I am a scientist by profession, hence the rant.

Please share the same information with their ranks at the time if you wish. I almost certainly would expect:

Joshua’s opponents to be ranked better overall - for instance Takam wasn’t ranked so low

Whyte and wilders to be similar overall rank

Ruiz and fury to marginally improve.

I wouldn’t expect the context of the conversation to change at all though?

Boxrec unfortunately will let you look at the fights of the past, but with where they're ranked currently. Was hoping they would correct this with that big update they did.

Fury will continue to fool the casual fanbase as he picks up 0's off of undefeated and unheard of journeymen. He's still the best fighter in the game, but he refuses to break a sweat. Irritating.
