People always overrate contemporary champs though. A few years back Floyd fans were shouting TBE. Mayweather is another excellent fighter - top 25 along with Manny - yet Floyd arguably lost JLC1 and might've drawn Maidana1. Was Duran not better than either of them? Was JCC Sr not a more efficient aggressor?
Nobody is TBE. Nobody. Everyone loses if they fight enough top competition and theres no shame in that.
Ali and SRR are the two best to ever do it and any list that doesnt recognize that is probably wrongComment

You got guys like Robinson, Armstrong and pep at the tops of alot of atg p4p lists. Not even mentioning hearns, Leonard and Duran, monzon, Chavez snr..
Pac is great no doubt about it, but you can't put him in the leagues of the legendary fighters yet.Comment

The are great fighters before we are even born. there is no question about it.
But it is impossible to compare them with present day fighters because we did not really see them fight.
Floyd and Pacquiao are the 2 best in my generation along with :
Roy Jones
Pernell Whitaker, JCC
Duran, SRL, Hearns and Benitez (tail end)
DLH , Hopkins and Trinidad
Vander, Tyson, Lennox
Floyd is undefeated and he beat Pac officially while Pac's resume is the greatest of this generation.
pac and Floyd are 1 and 2 or 2 and 1. no problem either way.Comment

I agree with everything except the bold
Mayweather has more better/high-level wins
I don't think there is any justification to rank Pacquiao ahead of Mayweather, period..... and I think that both are ranked too high by most fans
they are not in the very top echelon by achievement, which is the very definition of greatnessComment

That is how you see it and that is cool.
I probably see and rank the achievements of Pacquiao probably because i was there every step of the way.
Here's the reason i rank him above Floyd
Sasakul - The Lineal Champion at 112. The KO was a beauty.
Ledwabba - p4p ranked and the champion 122. The demolition was dramatic with Blood and Lampley.
Barrera - P4p #3 at the time. The beating was shocking...
by this time @ age 23/24.... he is already clearly and universally a 3 division champion. with 2 lineal belts.
then comes Morales and Marquez..
and so on with DLH, Hatton, Cotto, Margarito, Clottey...
I was also there for Floyd.... though i only catch some highlights in the Genaro fight. i witnessed the domination of undefeated Diego Corrales and the controversial JLC fights.
then comes DLH, Hatton, Zab and so on..
I conclude that Pac's resume is greater with or without the addition of the undefeated Thurman.

your justification (the bold)..... are NOT criteria for greatness

whoop-de-shlt..... lineal is not a genuine criteria for greatness
Broner was a 4-div weight champ at 22yo.... which makes him better than Pac?
you simply cannot use that rubbish criteria
then comes Morales and Marquez..
that is criteria that we can use..... NAMES
FACT: the best version of Morales that Pac fought, beat him
we do not need to discuss Marquez
and so on with DLH, Hatton, Cotto, Margarito, Clottey...
Hoya/Margarito?..... no !!

My take
no idea how you possibly come to that conclusion
beating Pacquiao at 36yo, and SCHOOLING Canelo at 38yo..... are FAR better than any win on Pacquiao's resume
undressing Marquez, a guy who Pacquiao NEVER distanced himself from..... the sensational win over the undefeated killer Corrales (and yep, that is what it was)..... and the subduing/domination of Judah, are also just as good - or nearly just as good - as any win on Pac's resume..... other than possibly Morales
Pac's career since 130, is mostly smoke-n-mirrors.... he never fought a genuine top 5 welter until Bradley, who he fought THREE times..... and there is a damn good reason why not one person EVER called for a Bradley/Mayweather fight..... because Bradley is not on Mayweather level
have no idea how you could come to that conclusion, it is not even that close imo..... but, we can agree to disagreeComment
