strictly enforcing mandatories is ONLY positive for boxing if the sanctioning body in question has good/accurate rankings

Don't get me wrong, I definitely don't think the IBF being adamant about imposing garbage mandatories is a good thing in general, there's a reason why the IBF belt seems to be the one that gets dumped by champions the most often. However, I do think it's preferable to what the WBC does, which is the opposite, where they actually name a good mandatory like Charlo but will practically tie themselves in knots and come up with the most arcane nonsense to allow the champ to keep ducking and diving them. Obviously the happy ground is a combination of the two, where the org names a good mandatory and makes the champion honour the challenge fairly, but obviously this is boxing so that's too much to ask for.

Honestly though in this instance I'm just happy to see Canelo get chumped even if the reason behind it is slightly wack. Anything to see him get knocked off his high horse.

Canelo doesnt do purse bids. Thats one reason he was moved to "franchise champ" If PBC/Devy won, they wouldve dropped the IBF anyway due to Canelo's exclusive deal with DAZN

You know the real reason is Devyrachenko wanted the whole 45% or close to it, a purse bid will mandate that so Chenko was reluctant to budge, I don't blame him, but I do not blame Canelo-GBP for not givin in neither.

Theres a good four or five young guys in Canelos own weight class he could fight, but he wants an old weight drained Kovalev. I don't remember. And they report how GGG had to approve them, but you really think GGG was allowed something that Canelo wasn't? It means Canelo had to approve them too. You really think if Canelo says "no Moretti" but GGG approves, the fight goes through? Both probably had to. The point is Canelo would never care WHICH judge is approved because ALL of them are on his side. You don't get in the judging pool in the first place, at all, if you're not a sure thing.
