Comments Thread For: Ellerbe on Pacquiao-Thurman: I Think They Need To Do Rematch

Mayweather must seriously be considering doing this rematch if Ellerbe is now angling for it. Ellerbe is Floyd's spokesperson and has been saying all along that Floyd had zero interest before. This turnaround along with Floyd's response the other day when asked if he is getting back into the ring again, that only Time will Tell(and not outright denying it) and the social media back and forth between Floyd and Manny, puts some serious momentum into the rematch.Comment

I like Thurman, he’s a tough guy but let’s face it, he admitted he did everything but he just couldn’t beat Pac because of his tremendous skills and experience, he nullified everything Thurman had to offer. Pac should unify the belt with Spence/Porter winner and retire win or lose.Comment

It would be good for Floyd to have his last fight against a legitimate all time great boxer like Manny Pacquaio.
It would not look good in the record books that his undefeated record was marred by breaking Rocky Marciano's undefeated record of 49 wins by getting his 50th and final win against a non boxer(McGregor) with a professional boxing record of 0-0!
Years from now, historians would always put an asterisk on Mayweather's record because of that and try to belittle his accomplishments.
Another win over his greatest rival in this era and an 8 time division champion and current WBA welterweight titleholder like Manny Pacquaio for his 51st win to maintain his undefeated record would count a lot in the rankings of all time best fighters in boxing.Last edited by cjeagle1; 08-01-2019, 04:59 PM.Comment

That is what an older veteran will do for you. Knowing that he couldn't maintain the pace he had during his younger years throughout the bout, Pacquaio deliberately set the offensive pace and dominated in the early and late rounds while using the middle rounds to rest.Comment
