Brook killed his own career by fighting bums for for years.

As good a boxer as he is, he won the IBF belt and then thought he was made.

He should have used the IBF win as a springboard for big fights in the WW division but decided to fight guys like errrr....Frankie Gavin, took a payday against GGG and basically his career ended that night.

For me the difference between what Khan did and what Brook did is that Khan wasted years of his career chasing a big PPV fight with Mayweather or PAC, he was inactive had no leverage and wasn’t considered among the best at WW and his name wasn’t in the discussion to fight any top WW , So he jumped at the chance to be in a Big PPV even if it was a suicide mission

Brook had a strap , was considered among the top WW and could sell relatively well at home and had endless options at WW as far as notable names that could have paid him well and would have been favoured in almost all of them. But for whatever reason who ever managed / guided his career thought it was best for him to jump 2 divisions and face the man no wanted to fight in a fight he almost stood no chance of winning and basically derailed his career
Brook is also guilty of chasing Amir Khan for a big payday instead of forging his own path at 154lbs. It's adversely affected his career.

He went on to earn alot of money against GGG and Spence but at the expense of taking a beating.

According to Hearn he just wants a big fight so he's not even hungry anymore. He's looking for one last payday. Fuck him, he's done.

Brook priced himself out of a unification bout with Jessie Vargas. Hearn told him the only way he can get the sort of money he's asking for is if he goes in with GGG. Brook told him to make the fight and the rest is history.

Massive assumptions on your part, instead of fantasy they played the cards in front of them, they secured Brooks financial future. I think he got outlasted by Spence, and that was prob going to happen by that time, he had over-stayed at ww, if you go back to Brooks fight with Carson Jones, hes always had a problem with pressure and stamina, the fact that the rematch with Jones was at 150lbs and Brook beat him easy is telling.

The Vargas fight was on awful terms as they had to overpay him to get him and I was specifically refuting the point about his title run and the fact that other champions didn't want to fight him, not the guy who won a belt 6 months before. I'm talking about Garcia, Bradley, Thurman, Floyd, Pac...these were the champs for the majority of his reign. These were all big money and legacy enhancing, none of them wanted it.

From a sporting perspective I agree that...in hindsight Vargas is the better fight, but financially GGG was 5 or 6 times the pay day, and there is no getting around that.

It's not the slam dunk decision some of you think it was, revisionist theories.

Hearn explains his/Brook's side in an interview...I'll dig it up

I implore you guys to watch this interview and then make your judgements on the decisions they made TOGETHER

Also a lot of financial stuff in it for those who find that stuff interesting

Brook was a fool for asking for the GGG fight and Hearn was a fool for going ahead with it. Brook was unbeaten at the time and would have been better suited to stay in his division where he is physically very big.

The fight against Spence and his subsequent decisions in terms of his career have been his fault. He quit against Spence, yes he was injured but at the end of the day he quit in that fight.

Its his own fault for chasing the Khan fight for so long instead of focusing on the top guys in the division.

Roided out bum. Crappy skills. Brook only fought bums his whole career. C level fighter anyway. Spence whooped him. Made him quit.

                    Great post.

These boxers need to be smarter. Silver tongue Hearn doesn't care about them.

He was too eager for a big fight and took the massive step up against GGG. Hasn't been the same since, was always going to be a huge gamble.
