Devin Haney was prepared to enter his next fight as part of a major fight week in his Las Vegas hometown. He now gets to be the star of the show. The unbeaten rising lightweight has been locked in for a mid-September showdown versus fellow undefeated contender Zaur Abdullaev. Their title eliminator was due to take place on the eve of a September 14 card in Las Vegas featuring World middleweight champion Saul Canelo' Alvarez, whose change in plans allows this fight to now occupy the prime date.

His skills and his mild demeanor have made me a fan since his last few fights. I think he is one of the future PFP lists. And I dont put a lot of fighters and contenders in that vein unless I see something special and since some of today's fighters are going to become tomorrow's PFP stars, we have to sift through to see who could be and I think he is.

I think he has even less chance to face Lomachenko @ 135lbs. than Teofimo Lopez! These kids are trying to stop Mother Nature to make 135, and that usually doesn't work! Regis, Devin, Tank, Ryan, Teofimo, Mario Barrios, and Subriel Matias (just to name a few) are the future, and should meet up @ 140, while still in their primes! At least I hope!

No eddie, your job is to promote the kid & let him get his shot.

It be nice that you writers ( Jake Donovan ) include which sanctioning body is approving this elimination, yes I figured it is for the WBC given their rankings -- not everyone is a hardcore.

Which do you feel has the best chance to beat Loma: Teofimo or Devin?

So it's okay for Floyd to hold Tank back and keep feeding him uber drivers but you want Eddie to let Haney go straight at Lomachenko without getting a title first???
Damn the hypocrisy when it comes to PBC fighters,....

Honestly, not sure why Spence/Porter didn't just take place on this date after it was made clear that Canelo wasn't fighting on this date. Unless the Staples Center wasn't available or anything, but they should have just fought on September 14.

Doesn't look like GGG is fighting on this date, so no other fight was going to be able to take Spence/Porter off that date.
