Matchmaking is so ***ed right now. I wonder if it's the transition to new media (streaming, subscriptions, etc), the intense promotional rivalries, or exactly what's to blame but I can go to YouTube and watch all sorts of legends fighting each other. But, if I look over the past 5 years in boxing, I find very few instances of the best fighting the best in their prime.
How do you see Gvozdyk vs Beterbiev playing out?

Govozdyk is too slick and a better boxer. Better I’ve never proved himself. The Nail wins this one by a healthy margin.Comment

KO'd Cloud better than Adonis Stevenson before he had 10 fights. KO'd Campillo more viciously than Kovalev. Beterbiev was topping the performances, vs common opponents, of the most devastating boxerpunchers of the last decade or more, and he was doing it before he had 10 pro fights. What about that sounds like Tank Davis? Then even past his prime, when Beterbiev finally got to fight some top 10-15 LHW's again since Cloud, he dominated and stopped Hot Rod, who beat Marcus Browne who beat Badou Jack, and he stopped Callum Johnson who IMO is a top 15 light heavyweight.
Tank Davis needed the ref to bail him out vs Fonseca otherwise he was IMO on his way to losing. Beterbiev is undefeated. Tank Davis fights no one his size at all, let alone top 20 guys. His only good opponent was Pedraza when Pedraza tried to fight like a pressure fighter, and he still gave Tank more problems than anyone has ever given Beterbiev until Tank got him out of there.
So you can't compare Beterbiev to Tank. The power alone is much different. Tank is a good not great puncher, basically a Lomachenko level puncher which you saw a bit vs Pedraza but will see more if Tank ever fights more decent durable opposition. Beterbiev is one of the hardest punchers I've ever seen.Comment

U put it pretty well. I agree! Prime Beterbiev, Kovalev, GGG we’re unstoppable.Story of this entire generation in boxing. I tried getting over it by getting excited about the new guys, Bivol, Gvozdyk, etc, especially at 175, but I'm getting disappointed all over again by watching old highlights of Beterbiev and Kovalev in their primes and realizing the new wave just isn't as special as they were. They have the skills but not the power of those guys. Those guys had everything. Same with GGG. I forgot just how special he was in his prime. Now it will never be known except by GGG diehard fans, and even we will always have to question if we weren't just being biased, because he never really got a chance to prove it. But if you have any eye for this sort of thing, the speed, power, strength, skill, and stamina combo was the best in the world. He was Dmitry Bivol before Bivol, but way stronger and more powerful, didnt get thrown around inside like Bivol by the likes of Joe Smith, or hurt with every punch that landed cleanly like Bivol.
So I feel like boxing is so corrupt and messed up, we're having to settle for getting excited by the younger B-level or A- level guys because boxing refused or failed to get the A+ guys real fights until they were too old and no longer A+ guys. Imagine if Kovalev, Beterbiev, and GGG, just those three, all got tons of top fights in their primes, what a special era of boxing we could have had, and we would have gotten a much clearer picture of boxing history as well. Instead maybe the best boxer punching trio in decades is going to be a footnote in boxing history while a bunch of A- or B-level guys are going to be remembered as greats in their stead, whether that's Gvozdyk and Bivol (still hoping they go on a great run, but don't think they're quite as good), Canelo for sure (sorry Canelo fans, but he struggled with a way past prime GGG so he in no way measures up to prime GGG or prime Beterbiev or prime Kovalev who were in their own ways either as good or at least almost as good as GGG), and so on.
At least Lomachenko is getting his due, but as good as he is, remember when GGG and Kovalev and beterbiev were prime, no one was even that excited for Lomachenko compared to them? That's how special those three were not just in terms of talent, but entertainment. Lomachenko is a better boxer than any of them but all three of them at their best, or at least GGG and Beterbiev, were probably just as difficult to beat, and even more exciting and offensively overpowering as he is. And at least Inoue is getting his due but he's in the lower weights, and I'm not sure he's technically as good as GGG. Inoue already got taken 12 rounds by a B-level guy as well.
It's just really disappointing like how can we get excited for top talents in this sport if this sport will continue to just waste them? And is there even any guarantee that anyone as good as those guys comes around for the next 20 years? The fact there were three that good that all came around just in a 5 year span would seem to suggest that the odds are good, but idk man. Those were special talents. They all came on the scene like 6-7 years ago, and still not a single one as good has emerged in that time. So if things can go 7 years without a single one, what about another 7? That's almost 15 years. Then we get to 20.
And even if more do come around, what if the same thing happens to their careers? Sigh.
Ill never forget the GGG fight vs Geale where Geale landed a flush shot but GGG ate it to throw his own shot which dropped geale and ended the fightComment

cloud completely robbed campillo, lost to hopkins, lost to stevenson, then fought beterbiev. not impressive. campillo had been ko'd a billiion times by the time beterbiev got him. not impressive. hot rod beat brown years before and did absolutely nothing since. not impressive. this was more of a shot on tanks horrible resume than anything. beterbieve is a good fighter but unfortunately his prime might have already passed him so hes finally taking a risky fight in order to try and get back what he lost. if it pays off and he wins great. if he loses its basically the end and that will be a sad way to go.KO'd Cloud better than Adonis Stevenson before he had 10 fights.
