I think the weight issues were the biggest waste but nonetheless he wasn't going to be a world beater being as one dimensional as he is. He got his money, bit of legacy and fame so he should be set for life hopefully. That's what I'd consider a successful career for most pro boxers.

Too many couch experts and keyboard analyst that think they know what went on in someones career. never accomplished anything in their lives yet telling someone that they are done and dont deserve something they are working hard for. and you call yourselves fans. Just a bunch of criticizing nobodies and putting your useless opinions on a boxing thread makes you feel better about yourselves.
Hope gamboa looks good wins clean. been a fan of his for a while. life has ups and down fights have ups and downs careers have ups and downs. hope he gets what he works hard for. Good luck champ.Comment

Agreed 100%. Fights like juanma and mickey garcia never materialized. One because the greedy promoter and the other because garcia wasn't ready according to his brother robert, and he was the mandatory at the time. I read a post in this thread that stated crawford ruined his career. The person that wrote that is so wrong that it doesn't motivate me to respond him/her. At the time of the fight Gamboa was on his way down and two weight divisions over his prime weight. Still he won the first 4 rounds easily and almost knock him out in the last round.Too many couch experts and keyboard analyst that think they know what went on in someones career. never accomplished anything in their lives yet telling someone that they are done and dont deserve something they are working hard for. and you call yourselves fans. i dont know maybe some respect for the men and women actually get up to train and prepare for fights win or lose for the fans entertainment. 90% of this board and many others are just couch experts either calling a fighter a bum or this and that while praising the few favorite fighters they are obsessed with.Comment

We missed out on gamboa vs lopez and gamboa vs garcia. we know they were all willing to fight and were all on top rank at one time. sad. I don't know the details but i believe he split from haymon and went with 50 but then he had a long lay off. almost two years out and he comes back in a new division to face crawford. he did well but was outgunned. two fighters we get a winner and a loser unless a draw. But on this forum if you lose you're a bum you're washed up you're this you're that. You win well if they like you then they praise you if not well you beat a bum. It's ridiculous. Whether gamboa is past his best he still deserves a shot at fighting earning a living entertaining fans and if he continues get a title shot. That is what it is all about. I think that would be an entertaining bout Tank Vs gamboa.Agreed 100%. Fights like juanma and mickey garcia never materialized. Yeah, and all the debacle started when he decided to duck Brandon Rios of all people, at the last minute
a perfectly winnable fight that could have propelled his career
He tried to mess with Top rank and the Bobfather and paid for itComment
