Fat Boy Dan contract won't be renewed by ESPN

I don't think much of most of these guys, Fat Dan, Kevin Lol, etc...They write with the profundity of describing a pancake breakfast at the Lion's club. Most of them lack depth in understanding the sport. I don't even read their stuff anymore. There are still real writers, people who can make a piece that is interesting and has some depth.

I don't wish him bad tidings but there are plenty of writers and boxing people who could really do a decent job.

I met him a few times a the fights and he was cool with me but I totally see what your saying in that he thinks he's some big artist genius and some Brad Pitt guy or something LOL. I always thought he looks like Tim Burton but more anorexic. Who would find that to be handsome??? LMAO. I remember he would feud with all the other writers over real small petty things. I remember he was claiming he'd throw hands with this other writer, but they never did when they saw each other at the fights. Some of the other writers told me he thinks he's the PED expert and the only one who can comment on PED usage and scandals, when he never even had any qualifications to do so in the first place. I never knew he worked for this site for one week tho? What happened they fired him after only one week? LOL.

I remember Gabe was hired to be Boxingscene's guy to cover fights in the LA area, but then Richard Scheafer banned him from Golden Boy fights, which kind of made his job impossible. I think it was because he claimed there was a USADA-Golden Boy coverup regarding a Mayweather failed test. Either Gabe quit or Boxingscene fired him. I can't remember.

To be fair to gabe, he was one of the first guys to talk about peds in boxing in an depth manner. He had lots of good articles at maxboxing. Some of his conclusions were kind of iffy and sometimes boarderline conspiracy theory though.

Tom Hauser sued them over the website name I believe, it was a **** move and he won. He picked on small fry but thats the type of guy Hauser is for some reason very spiteful but later he was cool with both kim and fischer

Dougie Fischer is ***ish and black I believe? he has always been cool to me, people hate on him but what I remember most about them was max boxing they were the FIRST boxing blog website type deal and they were the first to really put me onto Manny Pacuqiao, and Edwin Valero they had so much exclusive training camp coverage, and sparring.

I think it was Steve Kim who gave Manny Pacquiao the nickname the Pacman on one of their weekly shows, Pacs nickname was The Destroyer before. you had to be a member I think it was called the next round? I had a paid membership for 9 dollars a month and they sent me a xxxl shirt lol


Its crazy how Maxboxing fell off so did doghouse boxing that site is dead, but Google became biased and started changing their algorithim so if you type if Pacquiao sites with more authority who make millions will get all the front page positions. before google would put sites dedicated just to boxing for boxing searches now you can get a site like Vogue outranking a boxing site because Vogue is rich and powerful and google wants money they dont give small sites like doghouse any shine. you cant get rich anymore that way

I still remember when Steve Kim visited wild card back in 2002 before the Barrera fight and he and Dougie kept praising Pacquiao, they really were fans of him right off the bat and would say things like I have never seen a smaller fighter this exciting and they said he can be the biggest star in the spport this was back around 2003 to 2004 they were just covering local boxers like Mike anchando and stuff.

Then Edwin Valero came on the scene and they would boast him up too, the sparring of Valero was a sight to see. The guy was one of the most ferocious I ever seen, seeing him snap Urbano Antillions head near off was insane.

I have to admit that I do think Steve is the best to just talk and do a podcast like show. When he's just rambling on various related subjects he is in his element, where as Gabe was never good at this and pretty much lacked the voice and on air persona. Doug was also good more so in a fight color commentary manner if that makes sense.

I listen to Chris Mannix's podcast and Fridays and check Fat Dans twitter feed for news, usually. Dan aint the best but his Twitter feed is usually isnt full of opinions and non-boxing stuff.

And I think Glaser if full of ****, actually. Dan lives on the east coast and probably makes more than Kim.... I bet hiring Kim to do California and Vegas fights saves them money in travel expenses (especially if Fat Dan needs two airline seats and a California king mattress, but I'm speculating) and probably allows them to have another writer and more or less break even.

Pretty much everyone I hear on this site seems to hate him but I guess they had more interaction with him then I did. I just pretty much said sup whenever I bumped into him at the fights.

I could see how the other writers all complained that he was condescending or whatever and how Hectari pointed out he thinks he's some big like rockstar or superstar actor when he only does community theater and the guys pushing 50. I remember reading an article on the Mad Men star John Hamm and he said something like if I'm not a real actor by age 30 I'm moving back home and never acting again. He was like 28 at the time and then like 2 years later landed the lead for Mad Men. It's sad when wannabe actors screw up their life and never know when to call it quits.

I always thought their security was no good as you can pretty much go right up to Manny for autographs and pics and Manny always says yes because he's such a nice guy, his entourage however are all pretty much ******s.
