Fernando Vargas and Arturo Gatti needs to hang it up. They suffered too many beatings.

Yeah Gatti at least got to extend his career alot further than vargas did even when people thought he was done (after the DLH fight) he managed to get back into contention and fight for a few more years. But hes to old now he cant make 140 and the guys at 147 are to big for him so hes had a successful career and hats off to him for being able to bring alot of fans into boxing which alot of boxers cant say they've done

Round 5 of the Gatti/Baldo fight was Gatti's last stand when he was hurt and winging big shots to try and knock Baldo out. I dont think I've ever seen Gatti stay down from knockdown before like in the 9th. I dont think he has ever lost before from not getting up a from knockdown.

Gatti had a LONGER career, but Vargas had a more PRODUCTIVE career.

It's been a good run for Gatti.....But I have a feeling that he is gonna come back and that Baldomir will be losing soon.

Well, when you tell people that you can't really make 140 anymore, yet you can't effectively compete with the guys at 147, it presents an interesting dilemma.

It will be interesting how this plays out. Gatti has made much more money than his skills would normally mandate. He should be appreciative of that. His name recognition will be worth a NICE business in jersey. Gatti's Sports Bar would do great business.

My guess is that Arturo will find some foreign schlub with a good record that nobody ever heard of (damgaard, branco, dorin) to give him a farewell victory. Gatti-Gamache II , anyone?

Problem is that every so often, those 'foreign schlubs' turn out to be baldomir or maussa.

Fernando Vargas is a great example to make when talkin to young prospects about not rushing themselves.

Shelly Finkel, who managed Vargas throughout his career, said that he never meant to rush Vargas. In fact, he would always tell Vargas and his team that its too soon, its too soon. Vargas and his team did not listen, they said bring on the big fights, and bring on the money, and of course, today we all see the consequences of that.
