    That is an excellent point.

    Butthe problem is that you have so many young fighters out there with undefeated/good records, that it's tough to differentiate yourself from the pack. paul williams, joel julio, paulie malignaggi, sechew powell, floyd mayweather, ricky hatton, miguel cotto, etc , etc. Who knows who are the champs or the chumps??

    So a guy like Malignaggi rolls the dice a bit early to try to break away from the pack. It was a risk, but at least we know his name now. And we know he is a good boxer who is a tough kid with heart.

    But Trinidad was a career ender. That was too soon for Vargas. Even though he made it a fight.
