Well...he suffered kidney failure as a result from his boxing injuries. So he suffered kidney failure from a 10 round fight...

Ok, let's just forget the brain swelling and kidney damage and just say that he died of asphyxiation; as everyone who ever lived and died ultimately did.

i just started a thread about this too. it sucks, he was only 23. awful weekend for boxing.

what caught my attention was the fact that he was passing out while the score cards where being read and his trainer (his father) was holding him up so he could listen to them, instead of taking him out of the ring to get him checked out

I think his father didn't realise that he was having problems man. I think the father thought his son was just nervous because the scorecards were being read and that's why he had his head down like that. It looked like he held him up to support him, but I saw his father more hyping him up and saying stuff like 'you did it man' 'you won the fight' and petting him on the back...to make his son less nervous. Didn't seem like they already knew at that point. They stood behind him

Unlike Maxim Dadshev, who had the great Buddy McGirt aware what was going on and with the health of his fighter in mind. Santillan had these idiots holding the guy up when he needed help

Holy **** that was negligent and ****** of them to not get him on a stretcher right away. I can't help but wonder if both him and Max could have survived if EMS took them right away. In both cases there was too long of delay before EMS took them.
