Again do you think it's that unlikely especially with Ruiz's latest tweet saying "whether its in the UK or US" that you should be thinking the other way?
I think too many people believe what promoters say. Right after the fight Joshua mentioned not knowing if there even was a rematch clause - we all knew there would be one, but we still waited on the facts.

Now we’ve heard that a rematch clause could be as vague as “rematch could be triggered” And we’ve heard it could be as detailed as “purses, location, everything included” etc.

Chances are, it’s somewhere in the middle. None of us have seen the contract, none of us have seen ANY standard boxing contact with a rematch clause.

I do know when Kovalev’s team triggered the rematch clause with Ward they renegotiated everything. But I also don’t assume every contract is the same.

You and I both agree that the best thing for Joshua would be to have it in New York, I just think it’s premature to have everyone going “nah nah contract!!” With 0 facts.

I'm sure Hearn will eventually pay enough money to Ruiz to sell his belts for.
      This is all just negotiations.
Cmon guys your all smarter than that.
Hearn is just trying to do it on the cheap atm.

I wouldn't blame Ruiz if in fact what Whyte ends up testing positive for is PEDs. I'll wait til the facts come out before jumping to conclusions

Millers failed test have effectively been swept under the carpet, the NY state athletic commission denied his application for a licence and the WBA imposed a 6 month ban. He could still fight in other states. If you recall the fight was still planned to go ahead until it was irrefutably proven that he had taken multiple substance (some of which could only be taken via injections).

And the same logic applies, the reason the fight was allowed to carry on is because of how late the results came back. Miller had his A and B samples back before his fight with Joshua, the Whyte A sample only came back a day or 2 before the fight hence why VADA, UKAD and BBBofC cleared the fight to go ahead. If his B sample comes back he will be banned, hopefully permanently if he is proven to have cheated.

I wouldn't fight a Brit in their country if they repeatedly allow fighters to fight after they've been caught.

AJ said he didn't know becuase he leaves it to Eddie. My guess is due to the financial backing of AJ and everyones langauge they're gonna have a pretty one sided, pretty water tight contract.

Them two bolded conditions aren't vague or mutually exclusive either. From what we've been told the rematch happening was at AJ's descretion so he could choose whether or not to take it and then if he did, he chooses when & where, also I'd heard that Andy's purse was pre-determined.

All's well and good saying it probably somewhere in the middle but you're saying that with 0 fact and less evidence than everyone saying it's gonna be one sided.

Supposedly the only reason it hasn't been announced already is because they got offers from two more venues (one in vegas) which had to be explored just to make sure all bases have been covered.

I get what you're saying though "you only know what you've been told" but IMO I've not seen much to make me disbelieve what we've been told.

We don’t agree on much, but you know me as a poster, if I’m incorrect and it’s in the UK, I’ll be the first to admit I was wrong.

Just annoys me when everyone hears a half fact and becomes an expert.

Good post, I believe Hearn has recently come out and said the venue of the fight is entirely decided by his team/side and that Ruiz has no say on the matter based upon the side contract, he also suggested there would be legal implications if Ruiz was to try and breach the contract. I dont trust Hearn and think he is a moron but I cant see why he would say this to the media unless he was confident in his position.

If this is truly the case then Ruiz has no leg to stand on, nobody forced him to sign the original contract and at the end of the day he was given a fantastic opportunity by Joshua, he got a career high pay-day and opportunity to become a world champion. It was a voluntary defense after all...
