Why couldn't someone just be a Ruiz fan and not a Wilder fan. I was never a Wilder fan and I never thought much about Ruiz. After his good KO win over AJ who I thought was the best heavyweight in the world I became a Ruiz fan. Isn't that a good enough reason? I like Ruiz in and out of the ring and I am still not a Wilder fan although I hope he KOs Fury. Anyway if AJ beats Ruiz in the rematch I will remain a Ruiz fan/
Why did all these Andy Ruiz fans pop out from?

I thought all these years I knew what a boxing fan was...
Then I came here and learned: "You pick fighters who are of the same race as you are...You may admire a fighter, love his style, even think he is special as a human being...BUT NO NO NO!!! you better stay in your lane! If you are a tongalese nationalist, minority Sikh? too bad!!!!
Now I see this thread. So if you have to pick the fighter that is your own race...and they lose do you have to pick another race to be a fair weather fan?
If Ruiz loses does he become just another Murican?
Seriously though some of us have been with Ruiz a long time.Comment

I highly doubt these claims. looking up Ruiz's 2 big fights the other Parker about 70% picked him over Ruiz and since who has ever really talked about him if we are considering fan bases ? I didn't see him in anyones top 10 either leading up to the AJ fight all but a few and the only one I remember was the poster Juggs having him at 10. Sorry but these claims many were with him doesn't add up going by past posts i'm seeing. Glad he has fans but that's to troll AJ we all know that for the most part and theres another thread on how long will Ruiz last as champion and not many think long so where are his fans if Wilders fans aren't involving themselves ?Then I came here and learned: "You pick fighters who are of the same race as you are...You may admire a fighter, love his style, even think he is special as a human being...BUT NO NO NO!!! you better stay in your lane! I guarantee if you search my posts you will see all kinds of luv for Ruiz, and yes Jugs as well thought him talented. My point is that anyone who can see that Ruiz had skills, great handspeed and looked good against Parker would not write him off. Just because there are so many who looked at him and saw his weight and haraunged fans of Ruiz does not mean he did not have his following. People who look at the fights, and see the skills would have no problem seeing Ruiz as credible.I highly doubt these claims. looking up Ruiz's 2 big fights the other Parker about 70% picked him over Ruiz and since who has ever really talked about him if we are considering fan bases ? I'm not talking about you ,i'm talking an actual fan base. Who did you pick between Ruiz and Parker ? If that answer is Parker ,which I don't know because the poll wasn't public it just nullifies bigging him up. Many thought Ruiz was skilled and better then Miller except the wilder fans mostly which is the point. And in between 2016 and now where were they is my question that's a 4 year gap when AJ is involved we get a new fan base.I guarantee if you search my posts you will see all kinds of luv for Ruiz, and yes Jugs as well thought him talented. I did use myself as an example. There are some boxing guys here who have liked Andy. Its the hand speed and the pressure. If you look at some crafty boxer punchers...guys like Byrd, Chambers, Toney at heavy weight, etc very few of them can apply pressure consistently. Ruiz in doing this makes the other guy open up. This is one reason people took notice of this kid. He has the chin, the footwork to close (not really fast feet, but steady) and the hand speed to get his punches on target...but what makes him special is that he hunts, so to speak.I'm not talking about you ,i'm talking an actual fan base. Who did you pick between Ruiz and Parker ? If that answer is Parker ,which I don't know because the poll wasn't public it just nullifies bigging him up. Regarding the Parker fight I don't think I picked, but in all honestly that would have been a tough fight because Ruiz and Parker have styles that make the match up very tough to predict. Parker is a mobile guy fast feet and decent punching (could improve here) while Andy is a pressure guy, not a KO guy, but a guy who has to trap Parker. In this fight the role of the boxer puncher becomes Parker, while Ruiz, despite not having a KO punch, becomes the bigger puncher, the aggressor.
Particularly in a 12 round fight the boxer puncher here has tremendous advantages. Ruiz becoming the "puncher" has to catch up to Parker. Parker can pick away at Ruiz and take rounds pleasing the eye of the hometown judges. I would have not been very eager to pick Ruiz for this fight given these styles and match up and would have predicted the outcome we got...and I aint no genius lol!!
Its just the way they measure up as stated above.
If you want to get some idea about a great fighter to look at for a guy like Ruiz...a fighter he could emulate, look no farther than the Bronx Bull. Not a big hitter, but a punisher, a hitter, smaller but built like a pitbull... never stops moving forwards. Of course to aspire to Jake La Motta is a lot to ask, but Ruiz is young and he did look good last outing, so who knows? lol.Comment
