You don't ask for pinky promises if you are in charge. They wanted to force canelo to fight who they wanted in Sept and it backfired he told them if you don't want to let me fight who I want then I won't fight until Dec and I'll wait for Kovalev. Now they blinked and letting him pick the next guy he wants. They don't want canelo to sit and take his subscribers with him. It cost DAZN millions every month he doesn't fight and they are scrambling to not have him sit until Dec. Canelo gets paid either way when he fights. DAZN needs him more then he needs them that's why they caved.

However, when the time comes when that employee persists on being totally non-compliant and insubordinate, then when he least expects it; He's shown the door, given his walking papers and pink slip.

Remember, DAZN existed before Canelo Alvarez and it will exist after Canelo Alvarez. Contrary to popular opinion he is not the end of DAZN. In addition, DAZN has markets all across the world not just in the states.

It's a sports platform. John Skipper said his vision is to make DAZN the video media streaming equivalent of ESPN television. Moreover, DAZN showcases just more than boxing content on its platform too. They stream other sports as well.

So what happens to its boxing content, once they acquire the rights to the NBA, NFL and MLB in the U.S. Market; The sports where there is a broader audience and greater demand? Canelo Alvarez would then find himself dispensable.

That's the proof. They are in the process of begging him to give a pinky promise to fight GGG so how the phuk can you be dumb enough to think they can force him to do shyt. LMAO You need to ask for pinky promises but your saying their contract forces him to fight GGG?

Where did I suggest they could force him to do anything? I would think on the contract both parties have to agree or theres no fight or pay.

This maybe like a Ward deal where he just waits out his contract.

No one knows what will happen yet but theres no way in heck that they will let canelo fight guys that will bring in sub par numbers. Like I said, they have to pay for his contract some how. No fights, no pay. Crap fights, loss of money.

Would you pay your landscaper 100.00 a month to pull a weed? We'll see what happens.

Not in the US they didn't. They need Canelo to exist in the US without him he takes all of DAZN's US subscribers. Not only would they lose 10's of millions in subscription revenue every month Canelo doesn't fight it will be the nail in the coffin to US fans if he never fights on DAZN again. Imagine launching in the US on the back of Canelo and less then 1 year in he refuses to fight for you and you have ZERO content to fall back on. You think any of the other leagues in the US will have anything to do with them when they just ruined their creditably in the US market? Canelo is their most important partner if they couldn't make it work with him then why would anyone take them serious and sign with DAZN? And as for fans you only have 1 shot to make a first impression it's business suicide because they will be known for Canelo saying phuk you and taking all their subscribers with him.

It's not rocket science DAZN needs Canelo more then he needs them which is why they just buckled and caved in. Canelo is still getting paid and still fighting someone NOT named GGG but now both sides understand Canelo can't be told who he is fighting or when. Canelo fights when he wants and on his terms.

DAZN will make money regardless the opponent Canelo choose to fight. His fans are paying their subscriptions. DAZN should stay out of the match making process. If they don't trust the fighter and their promoter to pick the best fights for themselves, then they shouldn't have given them a contract. Also if Canelo and GGG are both fighting compelling fights, then they already have the subscriptions of both fan bases.

It's not the same because Ward was not the biggest star and draw in the entire sport and Canelo is currently responsible virtually all of DAZN's business in the US. Canelo is worth hundreds of millions in revenue annually for DAZN that's what you are not getting. They can't exist without him they lose all their subscribers. Sure if you want to sabotage your own business and have to close up shop in the US you could do that. LMAO

DAZN ain't that dumb which is why just 1 week after Canelo told them phuk you I'm putting you on time out and you now won't get a sept fight they already buckled and are approving Canelo to fight someone else NOT named GGG to try and get him back fighting on DAZN as quick as possible.

EXACTLY. You don't hire the best band, musician, entertainer in the world and then try and dictate who they can have as back up dancers on stage. LMAO

You sit back and let them do what they do and reap the rewards. DAZN proved they are amateurs and pi sssed off the band so they canceled the sept shows costing you millions and were threatening to not play again until dec. Now DAZN realizes they phuked up and is letting them choose the backup dancers they want to get them back on stage ASAP. Meanwhile Canelo gets paid the EXACT same he would if he fights in Sept/Oct/Nov/Dec.

If DAZN actually have the power to force fighters into taking certain fights, it could be very beneficial for boxing IMO.

However I think they need Canelo far more than Canelo needs them. Canelo could go to Showtime or ESPN and make great money could DAZN sign anyone else with the drawing power of Canelo?
