AJ showed a lot of courage continuing in his state. He also was risking his health and safety with that courage. I'm glad the ref stopped it when he did.

And that's the thing. I didn't even watch the fight but I shouldn't have needed to.

The referee and the trainer are fully responsible for the health of the fighters in the ring. There is no shame in stopping the fight in the event one of them realizes one of the fighters are in danger of their health.

For those who watched it, what was Maxim's condition prior to the KO?
He started off well but kept slowing down and taking shots as the fight went on. The shots he got hit with though didn't look like concussive blows and he was actually hitting back but without any power.

Things got particularily worse for him in the 11th and he kind of stumbled back to his corner so his trainer Buddy McGirt stopped the fight after the 11th.

I wouldn't have stopped the fight earlier than McGirt did as Dadashev was still fighting back but I don't know Dadashev and how he normally fights.

It's hard to say that man I feel you,,, the fact is that this fight and injury has some particulars that make it hard to figure who is or isn't at fault:

Buddy can teach a fighter to be defensive minded but he didn't train Maxim from the begining, the kid comes with a euro style set

Subriel was just relentless has a pressure style and Maxim couldn't put any hits that made him back off but he was hitting Subriel and the reff can stop it if the fighter is showing some offense

This just sad and he has a small child

After watching this fight, I couldn't get it out of my head all weekend. As fans, we are so bloodthirsty that we forget these are individuals, human beings, and not solely gladiators for our entertainment. May his family one day find peace from this tragedy, and MAY YOU REST IN PEACE MAD MAX
