    The Next Mexican Greats

Out of the young Mexican guns of today, who have the ability to replace Barrera and Morales when they finally hang up their gloves? Just a question, not fighter bashing.

I think the Marquez brothers when it is said and done will be up there.
Jose Luis Castillo has to beat Cotto and Hatton.
Arce is very popular and with a few more good wins under his belt he can be up there with Barrera and Morales. What really made those 2 was.....them.

If Margarito can pull off a miracle againts Floyd and beat solid opposition from there.
    Chaves Jr. is untested
    Paez Jr. is untested
    Cuevas jr. is untested
Humberto Soto has potential, if managed right.
Problem right now is the welter and middleweights are making noise so the lower weights dont get as much attention and thats were the better Mexican fighters are at.

None of the young guys coming up can compare to Barrera and Morales. Ponce De Leon is as one dimensional as they come, the guy has really no boxing skill. Bojado is a bust, the guy really doesn't have it mentally after his losses. Hes alot more gunshy than he was, when his all out aggressive style was doing him some good ****. Escobedo I thought had the inside track with his Olympic credentials and power, but he lost in his last outing. Escobedo is like a smaller Margarito, which in his next step up will find thats not a good thing entirely.

The one Mexican fighter I really looked at and thought "Damn, this guy can be a really special fighter" was Martin Castillo, and he just lost. Rafael Marquez is the real deal, a very talented fighter. Unfortunately, he is unwilling to leave a division that he has a ridiculous size advantage over his opponents.

Yes among the Mexican fighters today Rafael has the biggest chance to go up in ranks to the likes of MAB and Erik. The problem is, just like his brother he is not taking risks and he's running out of time because he is not getting any younger.

Asian fighters will dominate the lowerweight class.

as for Arce, Vic Darchinyan is his biggest nightmare. He will be KTFO if he will try to be El Terrible fighting the best.

I wanted real bad for Bojado to be that replacement but he just doesnt have it until he shows otherwise. I think it will be Paez Jr, I like his style the most. He has a solid amatuer record. Chavez jr needs to step up his competition, i dont care if he has no amatuer experiance, hes had plenty of fights already, he needs to do something. ANYTHING.

For me personally right now, Arce and Diaz are my favorite mexicans for the most part. However Diaz is from america and his style is more of that of a traditional american fighter, so i dont know how that appeals with mexicans. My girlfriend is mexican and her family are big boxing fans. Many of them werent too familiar with Diaz, so i hope his popularity catches on.

I also hope Juarez can pull it off against Barerra, but again, Juarez is american and everytime hes in there with a mexican from mexico, he gets hardly any love, i kinda feel for the guy.

But for me, i think Paez jr is the best of the young fighters coming out of mexico.

I doubt it, there are far more mexican prospects than there are asian for this to happen.

thats a pretty hateful and biased post there. there are a few decent asian fighters in the lower weight class but throughout history latino fighters have always dominated the lower weight classes.
