GGG needs to fight for a title in Spetember

    September....typo....

As a fan of his, a Mungia fight is not acceptable. He will decapitate that kid just like he does every C level opponent he faces.

Gotta be Andrade or the IBF title fight next or it's garbage.

But in reality we all know it will be Mungia on sep 14th because of the Mexican tie In. Just a **** fight imo...

I would prefer Smith or someone at 168 over Mungia...wouldn't mind Andrade or Charlo but honestly if either of those go 12 rounds, the side that doesn't like GGG will already have their card filled out beforehand so that takes away some interest in those for me.

Dervy is fine I guess as well...to see if he could stop him/beat him more impressively than Danny did...I think he stops Dervy, I can't see Dervy doing anything to bother him and I can't see Dervy going 12 rounds by more less staying in front of GGG.

Just like Canelo, Golovkin will likely be given a list of acceptable opponents. If Munguia is on the list it's because they don't want to risk a loss before getting the fight they are paying for.

On a side note...Would Golovkin/Munguia at 154 be better or worse than Canelo vs a weight restricted Rocky Fielding??

Good points...matchup wise better...since we GGG is the favorite and we don't know how he would react draining down to 154 at his age for the first time...but business wise worse...then again if they think that Mungia beating GGG would do wonders for Mungia's marketability maybe it would make sense.

Every sign points to Mungia being a little overrated though so investing too much in him seems to be a little silly...Canelo would have been a big favorite imo against Fielding even without the rehydration clause.

Ggg is not going to 154. Mungia is coming to 160

Agreed No way at age 37 he's going to cut weight without being drained.

Munguia is the fight that sells. A high profile Mexican fighter vs GGG in Vegas on Mexican Independence Day.
It's just makes sense business wise.

this definitely factors in...but dazn wouldn't need to find a replacement canelo if the actual canelo just took the damn fight like everyone wanted him to.

I have no problem watching my favorite fighter beat the living **** outta munguia. You are guaranteed to get an absolute SLUGFEST for 4 or 5 rounds. Let canelo fight kovalev- in December, then GGG- canelo 3 in may.

I'm not excited for either fight. They should try to get either Gilberto Ramirez, David Benavidez, or Callum Smith. THOSE are legacy fights that are legit 50/50. Sure, Munguia could get lucky and KO him, and Golovkin could forget how to box against Andrade, but those aren't... interesting.

                    Bring on Callum Smith!
