    so, compubox's BEST effort.....

is to put Whitaker right up there with Gatti and Chudinov ?

is there anything that compubox does well ?

are they actually good for anything other than stat-browsing by historians?

a dumb paint-by-numbers system..... for dumb paint-by-numbers boxing fans

Compubox is wrong every fight, a lot of the time massively, why are boxing fans still fed this BS like it's fact. Why have a couple of guys clicking buttons have the power to influence so many boxing fans opinions with their inaccurate numbers?

That is why he is one boxing's all-time greats and legends who never ducked anyone. He would fight anybody who was placed in front of him regardless of the money.

Sweet Pea was no money fighter. He fought for the love of the game. He never allowed money to prevent us boxing fans from seeing the fights that we all wanted to see which says a lot about his character.

What can one say about Pernell Sweet Pea Whitaker other than that he was a Hell of a fighter and a Hell of a man who will be missed? May God rest his soul in eternal paradise!

you're so transparent. You and I both know why you hate compubox stats and it has nothing to do with the fact that Whitaker is on on a list with inferior fighters such as Gatti and chudinov. You hate compubox because when you come on here to try and convince others that your fave was a dominant force in certain fights, that argument gets debunked when it's proven that he's significantly out landed in more rounds than not.

nah, because landed punches are not official scoring criteria

even a fkn idiot would know that

clean hard punching, son..... clean hard punching

              tell me something.....

does compubox use the official scoring criteria to judge whether a punch lands..... or do they use "other" criteria..... ?

Rest In Power to one the greatest to ever lace them up! We don't need CompuBox to know that Pernell Whitaker was a Master Boxer! Just ask JCC Sr. and ODLH!

Yeah, landed punches have nothing to do with scoring boxing. Lmaooo. You're just a groupie for the 1 fighter who has 4 fights where he was out landed overall, out landed in the majority of rounds in those 4 fights, yet still came away with 0 losses from those 4 fights. So you're using this Whitaker forum to complain about compubox because your level of fandom in on 10000. Like I said, you're so transparent.

It's not a really a good way of looking at a fighters' career but if I was gonna use boxrec at all in this kind of circumstance I'd be looking at Sweet Pea's ratio of punches landed/opponents landed in title fights, not just at the raw punches landed numbers. There's other guys with great engines who can throw a lot of punches, but most of 'em are getting hit back much more. Compubox may be massively flawed but given enough data trends emerge... only pretty exceptional fighters routinely land in excess about a 3:2 ratio at the highest level.
