True. Making a 37 yo LHW go down 10lbs is not really fair though.

Yes you can win a title at a catchweight but is it really relevant. In the LaLonde fight LaLonde was clearly weight drained. It was a good fight but do you really believe that Ray was a legitimate 175 pound champion off of that win.

          Rather see this fight.

Did anybody really want to see Canelo drain an already faded fighter just to add a name on his resume when Kovalev would’ve had no business fighting at the weight and with the clauses Canelo would’ve demanded.

I’m sure the money was good but why kill yourself and allow someone to exploit their position just to get a win over you under very unfair circumstances. It’s not always worth it.

I want to give Kovalev the benefit of the doubt and not call him a complete ****** for turning down the Canelo fight.

I want to say that Canelo probably requested a catchweight bout and Kovalev felt it wasn't worth even the money.

I want to say all that, because that's the only possible way to justify turning that down and fighting Yarde for way less money.

No need to be worried about Kovalev's money...

I got Kovalev by UD. Too experienced, too good.

Yarde not quite on that level.

yeah...the guy gives middleweights rehydration clauses. I'm not buying that he's not giving any to Kovalev.
