It’s partly voted on by fans online and the other part is media members.
It’s on its own weird timeline since they try and accommodate a years worth of champions. So it’s the previous years baseball champ and the current years football, basketball, and hockey champs. Boxing and MMA don’t have seasons so it’s just the last 12 months of fights taken into account.
