Ruiz is a skilled ****er. He will engage with you and there will be shots exchanged unless you have a very good strategy (and skills) to avoid that (or run like Parker and get a hometown gift). Sooner or later AJ will be hit in ways he doesn't like. Will another head shot disorient him?

You can't "train" taking head shots, especially unexpected ones. You can't toughen up your head. It causes trauma and it takes a good while to recover.

Joshua may well win this rematch, or not. In either case it could be disastrous on his near-future fights. I think he has a real chance of losing the rematch, and also getting shell-shocked in the manner David Price did ... from returning too soon and with no added defensive skills to reduce shots to the head (as much as he can).

I like AJ, he still has a bright future. No need to rush ... fan-girls/hearn/DAZN be damned. Maybe a training injury will slow him down. Time will tell. He suffered real trauma in that fight, jokes aside. He should be on the sidelines, with light sparring down the road, for a year. Get his mind, energy, and resolve all the way back. Time will tell.

Excellent post! Everyone thought that Kov was going to lose the rematch with Alvarez but, Kovalev boxed smartly by not standing still and trading. If AJ wants to avenge his loss to Ruiz, he has to box smartly and use his boxing IQ. Ring generalship is highly underrated.

AJ just got to follow Kovalev's plan vs Alvarez in the rematch, and he'll win.

Foreman giving up on AJ and is now bout to start backing the American Bomber Deontay Wilder like he always should’ve been!

But I expect AJ to win the rematch to set up a trilogy, like I said, he now knows what he’s up against!

Ruiz is a fast combination puncher with good skills and subtle movement coming in, AJ will box him up and possibly stop him late or get the decision win!

Wow. Foreman is telling Joshua to DUCK the rematch. "He don't need Ruiz"? Seriously?

Foreman is out of touch with reality and certainly doesn't understand this is a social media era,unlike him ….Joshua cant smile on T.V and crack jokes about ducking guys .

Joshuas best chance of winning which is still great is to take an immediate rematch because stalling against a short guy you will not be fighting anytime soon will do Joshua no favors . Get back in there while you have that experience with that guy who in all likelihood will be your shortest opponent with 6'4 average contenders today.


If he loses he then revamps and then he can do what Foreman is saying. Not even Foreman who was great at hand picking guys could avoid this if he was in this era,one thing to suggest but this isn't losing to Tommy Morrison with no belt,hes telling a largely popular former unified champ with multitude of sponsors to walk away......HUH ?

Joshua taking the rematch is a business decision, not a wise healthy decision. If i was his trainer i wouldn't recommend the rematch, Ruiz is the wrong style match up for him.

I said the same thing after watching Ruiz - Joe Hank, but i thought Joshua was going to be given a gift decision on the score cards. And i thought Joshua is better than Hank so he would probably be ok.

Joshua needs to go back to school for another 18 months but he wouldn't be allowed that due to the business side of things.

His lack of boxing IQ is why his lost though. That’s not something he can just switch on for the next fight because he doesn’t possess it.
