I would say the Marquez catchweight was worse because Mayweather agreed to 144 but weighed in at 146.
Floyd-JMM/Floyd-canelo? Which CW fight is the worse?

Canelo offered 150 2 years before he got the fight.
"I'll tell you the truth of what happened," Alvarez said in Spanish through translator Eric Gomez. "Why would I give up the weight? I'm at 154. I'm the 154-pound champion.
"I wouldn't do that. But when the (fight) negotiations started, they wanted me to go to 147. I said that's physically impossible. I couldn't do it. Then they inched up to 150. I said I can't do it, that's impossible. Those days are over. I can't make that weight anymore, I've grown.
"Then they went up to 151. And then finally, so we could make the fight, I said, 'If anything, I'll give up two pounds. I'll go up to 152. I agreed to that. Then they tried to force me to be quiet and not to mention anything that they came up with the weight of 152. And that's why ... I haven't said anything until now.
"They said we were idiots, we were ******, that we were the ones that wanted the catchweight."
Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe said it was simply the "A-side" fighter getting the upside over the "B-side" fighter. Mayweather usually fights at 147 pounds.
"We just took advantage of a situation. It's no different from basketball, football or baseball," he said. "You're always going to put your opposition at a disadvantage, if you can. You break 'em down and you go in for the kill.
"The kid suggested a while ago that he would be willing to come down to fight Floyd at 150. So if he put it out there ... this is business at the end of the day, and we're going to hold his feet to the fire, and his manager the same way."
Ellerbe said Mayweather was in the same situation in 2007 when he fought Oscar De La Hoya.
"(Alvarez) is making the most money he ever made. But at the end of the day, he who is on the A side is the one that controls. That's what being the A side is, about having leverage.
"Floyd has earned the right to do that."Comment

It is funny they talk about keeping to one’s word when Mayweather came in overweight vs Marquez, Canelo should have done the same. But like ellerbe says, a-side, they are allowed to do that and you can’t complain, supposedly, lol.
but anyway, yeah I'm not saying its right. I for one truly feel a championship fight SHOULD NEVER be at a catch weighvs. and its funny that you mention the a side has the right to take control because I always found it hypocritical that floyd as all about "even playing field" it would pull rank to help him get the advantage when ever he couldComment

Both Canelo and his trainer said weight loss no prob.He had come up from 147 not long before and even now both say weight was no issue.Floyd could have made him come to 150 and Canelo would have done it I think Floyd was just showing who was boss but it backfired and now people use that as excuse. Also Canelo was about 22 and stayed at 154 for years after so making 52 was no prob and they have said so.Comment
