Comments Thread For: Crolla Wants One More, No Retirement on Back of KO Loss

Former lightweight world champion Anthony Crolla is not looking to retire just yet, at least not in the aftermath of a crushing one-sided knockout loss to Vasyl Lomachenko. Back in April, Crolla received a mandatory shot at Lomachenko and he was blown away in four rounds in Los Angeles.

Ant’s overachieved massively, this is a fighter who got knocked out by Derry Mathews for the British title and many (me included) wondered whether he’d ever win the British title again. The fact he went on to win a world title was a great comeback story especially considering he’d recovered from a fractured skull. He’s got nothing left to prove or accomplish, retirement is the correct decision. He should’ve retired after the second Linares loss IMO.

Maybe Eddie “lucifer” Hearn can get him a fight with Liam Potter.....or Colm O’Herlighey.....or Nigel Smallwood.....or Neville McDougal or something along those lines

Should have finally been against Terry Flanagan. Decided on easy fights with MTK though

No shame in losing to Loma.

Go for it, Anthony. One more for your home town fans, and to celebrate overcoming a lot of adversity, and being a warrior all these years.

It never really looks good to see a fighter's record end with a LOSS and then retirement, like he was beaten into submission.

If he's won most of his later fights, he should do that one last semi-easy fight to exit a winner.

😂Are you trying to say Flanagan is ducking Crolla?

No, I'm saying he chose to take 3 easy fights with MTK. His now ex-manager has said he had a deal for Flanagan to headline the now cancelled Manchester July 6th card. That would probably have led to the Crolla fight.

When has Flanagan done anything that made sense. Even Warren finally had enough

Have you got a link for that Steve Wood interview/statement? Do you think Wood is telling the truth or is it sour g****s?

From what I read, MTK effectively offered Flanagan something VIP could not, and Flanagan originally wanted to keep Wood on board but Wood was not prepared to share the role or play second fiddle to MTK. Flanagan suggests they split quite amicably but I did see a statement from Steve saying he was hurt and disappointed.
