Comments Thread For: Duva: Canelo-Kovalev Moves The Needle, But Time Is Running Out

If Canelo Alvarez is as adamant about not fighting Gennadiy Golovkin again as she has been led to believe, Kathy Duva considers Sergey Kovalev the perfect opponent for the Mexican superstar's September 14 return to the ring. Kovalev's promoter realizes, though, that time isn't on her side in negotiations for an Alvarez-Kovalev fight.

      Skip them,too greedy.

      Jacob's got 2.5 plus perks.

Kovalev is offered 6.5 plus perks.

What's the problem? He shouldn't even get that much after how ward embarrassed him like a bully on a mission.

Guys 3-3 in his last 6. He’s not in a position to be pricing himself out of fights.

I suppose reading comprehension is a problem for you?

Jacobs got 2.5? If so, Then kovalev was offered 1.25 or less...

Jacobs actually got over $12 million for the fight.

Kovalev was offered likely 2.5 to $4....

Or if we go with the statement... was offered less than what he would make fighting Yarde! lol.

pricing himself out? So he will make less fighting ginger than yarde. And he is pricing himself out, according to you.

“I’d love to get Sergey life-changing money for this fight,” Duva said. “And we would take it in a minute if they would offer us the kind of money they offer other people. But to get less money for fighting Canelo than he’ll make in Russia to fight [Yarde], come on. We just can’t do that.”
This says it all. Canelo was just pretending to want this fight. Otherwise, if he actually wants it, Kovalev's team just made clear they would jump on a fair offer for the fight.

So Duva wants us to believe Kovalev is going to make 6+ mil fighting Yarde? Yeah right.

What i have learnt on this site is that the majority of boxing fans don't know what fair is. A 6 mil offer to a guy that has probably never made more than 2 seems completely fair to me.
