PROVIDENCE, R.I.-Like most in the industry, Eddie Hearn is still trying to wrap his head around the World Boxing Council's newly rolled out "Franchise champion" policy. The first to receive such designation from the Mexico-based sanctioning body was none other than Mexican icon and World middleweight king Saul Canelo' Alvarez. The suggested upgrade gives Alvarez-and any future Franchise champions-the freedom to pursue the biggest fights without having to be burdened with mandatory defenses.

I'm a big canelo fan but the new franchise champ wbc policy is just more bs in a long line of this corrupt org simply not changing its rules to merely state that if a fighter is going to fight a more lucrative fight that they shouldn't be stripped. Its almost as if they are trying to now act like its not their own fault for creating an interim champ by doubling down on their own ******ity. All they literally had to do was allow the best face the best but then they wouldn't be able to secure a sanctioning fee for every fight the cashcow makes in other divisions, its all about getting that nelo fee they missed since floyd retired & pockets feel light.

Whyte doesn't seem to really want to fight anyone anymore, he just wants to b*tch about how he's getting denied fights whilst turning down fights with Joshua and Ortiz, never mentioning Parker's name ad infiboredom . . .

D.Andrade never “beat a world champion” to get his belt, yet you don’t hear this type of talk from no one else. Whyte & co. are hypocrites, it’s obvious. No one cares about their struggle, they put themselves in this situation

If that did happen I don’t think Whyte will be that bothered about fighting for a vacant WBC title. He’ll still get paid big money with the title on the line and really opens the door for the big fights then.

I think this new belt will be the beginning of the end for the WBC. Every champion will push for it, and if they don't get it they will be offended and may drop the belt. Also, if you were going the mandatory route to chase a big fight, why would you go thru WBC when they'll just slap a franchise tag on a fighter and keep them from fighting you. WBC would be the last belt I pursue as an aspiring champ.

As i keep saying, PBC and ESPN need to make their own belts and do a yearly unification, then sart the process over the next year life all other sports. DAZn do ppv so they can be out of the model. This won't cause any new problems because purse bid unifications don't happen with high profile fighters anyway. These sanctioning bodies need to go

WBC is going to keep going until they are nothing more than a fancy belt maker. They will have as much governing authority over boxing champions as the entity who makes Super Bowl rings.

However this situation is not the same as what Charlo is facing. Whyte is ducking fighters but keeps trying to cut line to get straight to Wilder. Besides who is Hearn to complain. His relationship with the IBF is well documented. They always seem to have a very beatable fighter on ready to step into the Mandatory status and save MATCHROOMS champion from a legit threat of a Mandy.

Clean up the damn sport and give us the fights we want.

That model wouldn’t work, just too many complications would accure with trying to get ESPN and PBC or anyone to arrange a yearly unification unification. It’s way to bent to get this together

You need someone with to create a UFC type model with just the one champion in each weight catergory and a fair but simple ranking system, eliminate all current promotors and ABC organisations and let the networks bid for the fights when made. One day, we can dream..
