It just showed how much BS the top MMA guy was at the time, Floyd could probably beat the top MMA guys in the cage if he had a big reach advantage and a 25lb weight advantage as McGreggor had over him.
He wouldn't. At all really. Look, Boxing is a beautiful sport, but it's a very specific form of combat that ignores a multitude of factors. Even discounting the grappling component which he would have no hope of surviving, his footwork wouldn't work if he had to deal with leg kicks, his strength and reach advantage would probably be negated in the clinch where he would have no idea how to deal with knees and elbows and well, if **** hits the fan he'd just be taken down and submitted in 30 seconds.

McGregor was no boxer. He had to change his stance completely for this fight. It's not as simple as saying he's got power in MMA and couldn't knock out a retired boxer therefore his power is not valid, he wasn't generating that power in the same way, he's this unnatural beast with crazy punching power, his power comes from technique, technique he had to change around for this fight. The man's used to strike with 8 "limbs". You took 6 of those away and expect him to be the same fighter, naturally he's not gonna be.

Plus, he's really far from being the top MMA guy honestly. His career was micromanaged to propel him to the top because he does a great job at selling himself. Plenty of fighters can beat him with ease though as you could see in his last fight.

In short though, a boxer's gonna be better at boxing than an MMA fighter and an MMA fighter will be better at MMA than a boxer. That's all there is to it really. They can both exist.

I'll tell you this though...I would rather listen to Paulie 1000 times over before I listen to Khan. Now, that guy has to be the most delusional guy in boxing today, hands down!

You totally ignore 25lbs in weight I think in any form of fighting weight is a critical element.

Lets imagine prime Floyd at 135lbs , now bring a retired 40yr old former great MMA guy into the cage with prime FM having 25lbs advantage on the MMA guy.

I say Floyd would KO him in the first round, Id say the same with a host of prime boxers having such a huge weight advantage, its not gunna be grappling as the bigger guy will throw them off and bomb them with speed and power they never seen before.
