Did ya somehow forget that Derev was WILLING, ABLE and READY TO FIGHT at a short notice?

Did ya forget that GGG denied that fight to Derev? Effectively ducking his mandatory challenge?

I agree that Fielding sucks but he is literally Top 15 at worst at 168.
Rolls is actually ranked #8 by the IBF and #15 by WBC...same type of opponent as Fielding, it would seem.

Robbie...come on...why do people want to argue over everything lol...

IBF granted him the Vanes fight, but said he needed to negotiate with Dervy next, and told him that fight should be next. GGG and his team tried to get Dervy to step aside until after Canelo 2, but they didn't want to, so GGG got stripped.

I don't know why everything about GGG has to be an argument lol...honestly the insistence some people seem to have to get on GGG about every little thing and even try and misrepresent some stuff just makes a lot of any potentially valid criticism of him fall flat imo

I'm not throwing around that "DUCKING" BS...however I think moves are made by fighters and their team strategically. Meaning that behind closed doors, they know what is good matchups for them and what is NOT. I do think behind closed door, in despite what people say about the Korobov fight, other fighters at 160 sees Charlo as DANGEROUS and very High Risk. Now they won't come out and say that publicly because it would then rally fans to start demanding for that fight.

Oscar himself said they "Open" to do the Charlo fight..."IN THE FUTURE" his words...

OK fair enough Oscar, GBP have delivered every time with Canelo. He has fought guys fans said he wouldn't fight so for me Canelo is OK

Now this is what I have a bigger issue with...

and also having a damn Boxing Writer/Reporter Like Douglass Fischer Co-Signing, Laughing, Giggling and joking with Loffler for GGG NOT fighting Charlo while mocking Charlo fighting Monroe Jr. it was people HAPPY GGG wasn't fighting Charlo. They both end up looking completely ****** with GGG returning and fighting Steve Rolls. This is AWFUL for the sport of boxing to have fans and Writers/Reporters doing stuff like THAT! Fischer is not alone it is a lot of other Boxing Writers/Reporters/Youtuber Commentators who was right along with him loving the fact that GGG wasn't fighting Charlo

Now we have the different Network and APP EXCUSES being used...oh but Andy Ruiz who is a PBC fighter just fought and whipped AJ ass so the "He Is With PBC, He Is With DAZN, He Has To Sign With DAZN" is more BULLSH#T from the Protective Media and Cowardly Groupie Fanboys.

Stop Protecting these fighters and demand MORE FROM THEM!
Very good post...but not much will probably change...people will always tend to overrate their guy, and denigrate the other guys...for that reason it almost becomes necessary for some fighters, as you mentioned, to be selective about who they fight.

I agree that Charlo, despite his recent outing, is a high risk low reward fighter. And if he beats a top guy, he will get some respect...but the top guy will also get a lot of criticism and would have another loss...the top guy could fight a similar appearing guy and get a pretty easy win, and anyone who supports him will be glad to fall in line and say 'both those guys were similar fighters, same type of win'...

I do think a lot of fighters would fight anyone...but promoters have their job for a reason...Darnell Boone, both his losses and wins, and some other fighters show the importance of fighting smart...JRock a good recent example of probably forcing a fight too soon...and then after that taking the right steps back to build their fighter up.

But yes...a lot of politics in boxing...would be great if we could all agree and call it out when certain stuff is obvious...but good luck...a lot of fans are fanatical and expect any of us to really keep it real sometimes is a tough ask.

This is a good thread and a good example of some hypocrisy...but honestly there are a lot more, clearer examples in the not so distant past...stuff like this happens all the time unfortunately...fans are fanatical ya know, good luck trying to really reason with them about stuff involving their favorites.

Canelo fans say GGG should fight Charlo first and to stop ducking Charlo.

Canelo then gets stripped of his title for not fighting Charlo. That’s followed by Charlo and his team saying Canelo ducked him.

Everyone who was on GGG’s case for not fighting Charlo laughs at the notion that Canelo is ducking Charlo.

They point out that Canelo has fought GGG twice and Danny Jacobs. It’s strange because when it was pointed out that GGG wasn’t ducking Charlo because he fought Danny Jacobs and Canelo twice, no one cared.

Also, all the people who got on GGGs case for vacating the IBF don’t seem to care that Canelo did the same thing with the wbc.

These same fans then question Charlos resume at 160, something they ignored completely when trying to claim GGG was ducking Charlo and people mentioned that maybe Charlo hasn’t earned the shot.

I just wanted to point this out. And just to be clear, Canelo and GGG are both great fighters and neither are ducking Charlo. The idea that they are is silly.
One hell of a post. This place is just full of racist GGG haters. But its all the same names that seem to hate on everybody else too other than the fighters they love so much. Its just to be expected in here.

Derev couldn't fight on that May 5th date...would have taken months to negotiate that fight...and GGG wanted to keep that date that he was training for, I don't blame him for that....also don't blame him for taking on a more tune-up option on short notice rather than a real killer...we all saw what happened to Joshua vs Ruiz on short notice...not to say it was a fluke, but always harder to prepare for a top fighter on short notice.

So after that...choosing to fight Canelo, in a legacy/money/grudge match...I mean I think in every way it was the right call ya know...I don't think he should have been stripped because the situation there was really not his fault...but he was...chose to fight Canelo instead, can't blame him for that one imo
