As a ref, you are closer to the fighters. He didn't look right after the fight was stopped which leads me to believe he would have taken unanswered punches if given another 30 seconds.

How about Acasta and Soto in the final round of their bout; Which was at least 20 times worse than this stoppage because he never touched the canvas? Golden Boy and them paid refs doe.

          a) Reiss gives Fury every chance to beat the count when you could argue most referees would have waved off the fight with Fury motionless on the canvas, then has a chit-chat and a cup of tea with him giving him lot of time to recover.

          b) Mora warns the PBC fighter for legal punches on the belt line, then take a point away from him while three paid-off judges have him behind on the scorecards.

          Them PBC bandits though. Disgusting.

You must not know boxing, Acosta was on ***** street the same way Jermell blasted Jackson, irresponsive and not being able to even have a proper high guard. Acosta had his hands wide taking an onslaught after being stunned. That's more consistent with stoppages...

But of course you can deflect and not cite that Ceja got up proper and was asking the ref why he stopped it. Why didn't the ref let Ceja walk around as Fury did?

This isn't a knock on Fury. I think Fury's count and response was totally fine as was Ceja. Do keep in mind, Rigo was preplanned not to lose on PBC Fox, given the trainer change and different style of fight. Obvious enough?

It was the last round of a fight in which Acosta was dominating and he deserved an opportunity to either survive the round or go out on his shield. That was very irresponsible of the ref and he obviously had a horse in the race anyhow.

However, in this fight; I thought the referee could have let it go on a little longer but at the same time he made a judgement call. He wanted to err on the side of caution.

There were four more rounds remaining in the fight and given all of Rigondeux's experience and amateur pedigree; Ceja could have been seriously hurt.

Keep in mind that Ceja had already been stopped twice before in four of his previous fights anyhow. Don't get me wrong; It was a good fight and Ceja gave Rigondeaux all that he could handle but he just couldn't so much as put a dent in El Chacal's body or spirit.

Rigondeaux stood there in the pocket and took an asswhooping as he ate all of Ceja's best shots in the process. However, they had little to no effect on him. Guillermo was slowly breaking Julio down as his punches were doing the most damage.
