Get ready for another DAZN price hike

Live sports are not consumed like shows and movies. That's why advertisers pay so much to run an ad on live sports. I haven't seen any movement from live sports towards streaming exclusively.I've said STREAMING is the future numerous times. And if you know the difference between streaming & broadcasting you'd know streaming is a superior means of showing content to fans & it allows for customization that we have barely touched the surface on yet.
DAZN may or may not be the future & I'd bet against them myself as I've said numerous times. I think the streaming market is only getting started & I think the big dogs aren't even in it at all yet or fully in it if they are. I do expect DAZN to be around, even if I'm right, longer then you think they'll be doe. I don't think you jump in this sphere without the proper budget to throw some money around.
Streaming out of market games (NFL Ticket) is profitable. But the NFL will never exclusively stream a Nationwide game.
Every home in America with a tv has OTA capability. There's been a 48% increase in OTA only homes in America over the past 8 years. Would you call that the future too?
OTA is going nowhere because there is no other way to reach as many people. It's impossibleComment

I really can't answer that question. I wish I could. I see that they have some MLB content; So that was a good acquisition. What sport to you suggest they've shoulda gotten into instead of boxing?
Afaik there wasn't a bigger sport up for grabs yet cuz those bigger sports rights are locked up for years at a time. And boxing is one of the easiest sports to get into cuz its so divided & if you can make the right fights you can garner a solid audience.
Boxing is probably the biggest sport you can easily get into as a new player. And I mean that from the TV rights game to getting into the boxing ring as a participant ffs. Some of the worst pro athletes I've seen in my life are pro boxers cuz there is no quality control at who's a pro boxer. Any ass hole who don't fall off the treadmill can get ok'd for a boxing license.
Other than that there are no other sport that is not locked up in some type of long term contractual agreement with another television network that they can acquire.
The only grievance I have with DAZN is that think they are the Netflix of sports with more than over 130 mil subscribers worldwide.
They think that they can just throw large sums of money at these fighters without receiving a large return on their investment by building a strong subscription base in return.Comment

You can do all that with streaming.
Wait til 5G gets here. Or 6G if thats even being worked on at all yet.Every home in America with a tv has OTA capability. There's been a 48% increase in OTA only homes in America over the past 8 years. Would you call that the future too?

The way we are contending with the internet in 5 to 10 years from today is gonna look like dial up internet to now. These satellite internet companies will help change the game too & be able to insure 100% of the world has access to the internet.
We aren't going backwards with technology thats for damn sure. If there is a bump in antenna sales for some reason right now fair play to that sh^t, but the masses don't wanna deal with that bs & technology wins the day eventually & it will once again with streaming.Comment

Consistently being correct about DAZN, PBC, and HBO like I've been is rare also.Consistently hating, which isn't so rare around here.
Anyone with a brain knows you don't get into this sphere as a new dog & don't gotta throw some money around & be in the hole for awhile. Its hardly some crazy move. Its pretty standard. And it does make them a greater risk, most places doing this do end up going outta business. Thing is all the major places in most markets that shook things up from outta nowhere also took that type of throwing around money route.
And like I keep saying this is nothing cuz if DAZN is gonna be competitive they are gonna need some 500M-1B a year type deals with the major sports leagues in the US.
Before I started my own stuff I did cable installation for 10 years. I've been in tens of thousands of homes. I know people viewing habits. I know ease of access. I know customer education. DAZN has failed horribly on ease of access and customer education. That should've been their primary focus (along with getting their service to consistently stream without freezing and buffering). Especially the customer education. The most common trouble call for cable/satellite is "no picture/signal" most of the times the dispatcher will fix it over the phone. You know what the problem is? TV on the wrong input. But still sometimes they got thru and techs had to be sent out. Another one of my favs was box not working. Customers would get the all in one remote off sync. When they pressed the power button the box would turn off and the tv would turn on. They didn't realize to fix it simple press the power button designated for the cable box. Basically what I'm saying is customers are ****** and must be educated. And they aren't going the extra mile to educate themselves just for boxing.
Throwing good money after bad isn't smart. The numbers don't add up and there is no vodoo economics you can do to make the numbers make sense.Comment

I could see guys like you and Pandas having ego wars for technology.Live sports are not consumed like shows and movies. That's why advertisers pay so much to run an ad on live sports. I haven't seen any movement from live sports towards streaming exclusively.

Ideally if businesses are losing money or don’t see return, they don’t continue to expand in territories around the world unless of course you think it’s free... Last 3 months DAZN invested in Spain and recently Brazil.
Social Media wasn’t even strong when Netflix entered the game. What DAZN does right is focus on territories in their actual language, marketing.
ESPN+ and UFC have were the leading examples streaming, but DAZN is taking it to the next step.
Look at how many people watched Crawford or Loma and the subscriber count ratio compared to DAZN.
The main reason why DAZN America’s will be big is because of the Hispanic market. I think PBC shills and ESPN diehards need to realize that they will take over the Hispanic market and they’re already putting the effort in it.

Yeah...try being a NFL Football Fan in America! Mind you these are prices for the regular season which is only what 3 Months or So?
That is why I keep expressing how DAZN NEEDS to right to the NFL to be successful in America. Fans would FLOCK to a cheaper alternative compared to what Cable and Satellite TV Charges them for NFL Sunday Ticket
unfortunately for DAZN, competition like ESPN+, Google/YoutubeTV and Amazon are going to go all in for the rights to NFL Online Content in a few years and they won't stand a chance against EITHER OF THEM!

Boxing wasn't up for grabs either. Eddie Hearn sold them of dream of signing all these PBC fighters and it never happened. HBO suddenly going out of business is what's carried them this far. They would really be ****ed if HBO was still in business. They got lucky. Then overpaid a bunch of fighters. What sport to you suggest they've shoulda gotten into instead of boxing?
