It’s a case of too little too late for Rigo.
The criticism about him being boring has been around for years and he’s had plenty of chances under bright lights to make an impression and he failed to do so.

Couldn’t agree more. Rigo has been matched with guys he should’ve opened up against and made the fight at least watchable, if not entertaining. He just didn’t care. It’s a little late in the game to change gears. But I will say this, I’m glad to see him fight aggressively for a change. He displayed what I always knew he had, a mean streak and ferocious power.

I agree with much of what you said, but some of Rigo’s fights, like the one against Agbeko, were impossible to watch. I don’t care how skilled you are, if you’re not doing anything, you may as well have nothing. If the greatest guitarist in the world sat in front of you with his guitar in hand and didn't play it, how much pleasure would it bring you?

I don’t think he should have gone as far as allowing free body shots, but still, it shows how extremely proficient boxers can develop a nuanced yet entertaining offensive game. If only he did this from the start
I did find it funny that he straight up let the guy tee off on his body and just watched disappointingly or happily idk Rigo never changes his expression.

(I always felt that the "Cuban school of boxing" was treated like a Cinderella in America...)
"The Cuban School" was well recognized by the former USSR! That's a little known story too!

That was pure heart and soul Rigo showed the other night. I'd have liked a little more movement and defense mixed in but he blew me away the way he put on his warrior suit and put on a beautiful war. I hope he takes another title. He gained more fans from that display.

Rigo always had KO power and he has a high KO percentage don’t know why he gets so much crap for being boring.

For being 40 years old he’s beating, schooling and knocking these kids out. Man I wish rigo defected earlier and his career wasn’t damaged by Bob Arum

His career would always be a big “what if” but he’s accomplished a lot. And he will forever be the man at 122

Rigo is too old to run but he needs to run if the competition goes up again!
