Neither came close to backing up their words, and yeah thats normal. They had to build a career and a name to get to this point and that’s not lost on me. But I can’t feel sorry for either. Because I believe they got by far the best value out of it, save maybe the promoters.
You think Paulie needed the 250K or whatever, at the expense of all the long-term money he was making as a respected 'statesman' of boxing?

This will cost Paulie reputation and work and money, no doubt about it.

Paulie is a far better analyst then a fighter .

Just watched the fight quickly looked like Lobov won 3 rnds . Pauli could have won but lacked confidence and back pedaled relying on a jab and didn't let hands go against a weaker chin /less skilled but more imposing guy.

I can tell you what happened ,paulie never fought bare knuckle and like most thought he would walk through a lesser skilled striker but the mechanics are different and the less time and rounds doesn't give a more calculated fighter time to dictate the fight as much. Also lack of power is a certain hinderance in these types of fights and works against you almost always .I know of a guy ( I fought him ) who was no match for Wilder but put them in a bare knuckle match and Wilder would not be the harder puncher !

      • Yeah he did.

I had been telling people for months that Paulie was in trouble here. He actually did better early on than I expected.

This is only annoying because people really think Paulie was some great champion and that.now MMA is better than boxing and would best any boxer.

At some point Artem will face a former.boxer who is more suited for bareknuckle and not afraid to really throw down.

Paulie is retired, rich, and made a career off jabbing and movement. Literally the worst representative boxing could have asked for.

Paulie should be ashamed of himself and Showtime should fire him.

Paulie is a jabber with footwork. There are styles to boxing just like in MMA. Hes not even a great technician. He always got hit a lot for his reputation. I remember when he got a gift against Cano and Ngoudjo..

Yeah it's a fact Paulie won 2 of the (big) belts in his career. But he was honestly barely a top 10 guy at his absolute best when he wasnt afraid to let his right hand go. Still one of the most light punching fighters in the history of.boxing. he got.beat up every time he stepped up.

I would pick hundreds of 40 year old ex boxers around Paulie's weight that would do far better than Paulie.

I didn’t even know his purse or anything about his finances.I was shocked he took this fight being that I felt he had built a lot of good will and fans as a great commentator who wasent biased or ran his mouth like he did when young. I honestly don’t know his true motivation. Maybe he thought he could gamble on a Connor fight? But Connor knows to hurt Paulie by never giving him that pay day. Would u have thought Paulie would have fought in bareknuckle? The cliche of boxers is going broke. Being a good fighter once doesn’t pay the bills. How many boxers u seen in ads? Is Paulie going to get any money from unless he fights? It’s a high horse to sit on if u don’t think ten minutes work is worth $250k. There’s always new fighters to flush out the old. U think kids today are gonna pay for Paulie meals 2mo? Dempsey had a restaurant he went broke. He could have got the win, it was close enough. It would sing a different tune. Joe Louis went broke. I mean the money has to come from somewhere.

But that's the point. Artem will eventually lose against a decent boxer, a decent MMA guy or a random mma/boxer guy. That's because he is really bad. He has a negative record in mma. He is not even a C level fighter, it's more like D level. He is really really low on any ranking..

So to have a guy THAT bad at MMA win against a former 2 time champion really speaks badly about boxing. If he was a good mma fighter then he is just exposing a washed up Paulie, but he sucks.

Now the questions are how would a good fighter like Dustin Poirier, Justin Gaethje or Jeremy Stephens do on bare knucke against a good boxer? And boxing fans can't just dismiss it as "sweet science" being superior and prevailing no matter the boxer involved because a guy with a negative ***ing record, the lowest of the low in MMA, was able to beat a former boxing champion.

That's exactly the point; Which is why I thought Paulie won. The other guy Lobov hardly landed any clean punches and wasn't aggressive enough.

Apparently he did need the money otherwise why do it. The only reason boxers go into this barenuckle boxing is the need of money because they can no longer make enough money in pro boxing.

                    • I never understood the allure of Paulie. A big talker who never delivers when it’s time to step up to the next level. Disrespects other fighters and then cries like a b!tch when he isn’t getting the respect he thinks he deserves.
